Mesh works well for scales, just about any fabric store should have a decently wide variety

Here are some wild stencils for fish patterns. I think a lot of these are for taxidermist but I woudl think they woudl work for lures. I cut mine out of cardboard or polymer sheets (Depending on need) and buy my scale patterns here:

THANKS GRUNT. I OFTEN WONDER WHY PEOPLE ASSUME OTHERS ARE IDIOTS. DO PEOPLE HONESTLY THINK THAT I CAN'T FIGURE OUT TO BUY FABRIC AT WAL-MART OR A FABRIC STORE. THIS IS ACTUALLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR AND MORE THINGS LIKE THIS. ANY OTHER TYPES OF LIFELIKE STENCILS WOULD BE APPRECIATED FROM EVERYONE ELSE

ghitierman, I also buy beach bags from Wal-Mart and cut them up for my lure painting. They are thinner material. I like teh stuff from that website as i can buy 1 sq yard at a time and it is heavy duty. This keeps my scale pattern a little bigger showing more of the under-paint. If I want to show less I use the less heavy stuff from the gym bags. That place also sells a lot of different patterns and sizes. I need to buy some more but, don't need that much. I may just buy some and resell the rest on eBay.... For some reason a lot of people pay a good price on eBay for scale material. They just don't know where to look...

I am done without my spell checker! Got a masters in analytical chemistry and no clue about spelling. I should have listened in high school when they told me I will use English teh rest of my life. I figured I didn't need anymore English as I live in Amerika all me life.
