i am seriously thinking of getting one of these in 8 foot but not sure which blank to get it made on.
st. croix or diamondback? i was hoping to use this rod as an all around rod for most of my lures.

I prefer the Legend Tournament to the Diamondback.

Close call here. I have both St. Croix and Diamondback rods and they are both as good as it gets. In my opinion, the diamondback may be a tad lighter. Does'nt mean its better, just lighter. Kdawg

I have all 3 and it is hands down the Diamondback...the professional edge comes in a close second...but I guess it depends on the lure weight and type for me...

for an all-purpose i'd lean toward the heavier end of things.

the best thing to do is call Keith and talk to him about it.
Keith believes in personally talking to every client before starting to work on their order. he wants to make sure you're ordering the right stick for your needs, and that he understands exactly how you want the finished product to look.

I would go with the Diamondback from Keith.

You can't find a better stick for the money. The Pro Edge Diamondbacks are what my boat is outfitted with and my clients simply love them.

Get the Diamondback, you won't be disappointed.

After building on the new Tournament St Croix, I think seems to be a really good blank. I have never fished with it but it appears to have a very nice action to it. The one I built was 9 feet long and it did not appear to be tip heavy.

I think you were comparing the Avid to the Diamondback.....there is a difference between these two.

Steve

I guess you need to define your all purpose rod, throwing little 6" twitch baits to jakes. I would lean towards Heavy and that would cover most baits your going to toss, probably not going to want to throw little twitch baits.

As far as Blanks Diamond vs Avid= Diamond all the way
Tournament vs Diamond- I believe the Tournament is a little more $$$, but pretty positive feedback on the blanks

So many choices, you only need 3 rods and keith can get you setup.
