Location: Kronenwetter, WI | One of my goals for the upcoming season is to pull off this pattern sooner when not productive. How long will you guys stay on it before moving either to a cast and a half off or making your pass either on top of or on the inside edges, etc...?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks! |

Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | If I am not moving fish on the edge, I will immediately check outside for fish. Last year this outside the edge pattern was king all through June. I would fish right behind boats beating the edges and pick up the fish a cast outside of the weeds.
This can be a very hot pattern that needs to be checked regularly throughout each and every day. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I'm with Norm on that one, and like Norm, sneak in the other way as fast if nothing is going on the edges. Some lakes I start looking in 2', then move out. |

| I also start on the inside and cast towards the outside. This gives the fish a different look, and changes it up a little bit. Seems to work good on pressured lakes where everybody seems to be doing the same thing. |

Location: Lake Vermilion Tower, MN | Very few anglers are willing to put in the extra work that it takes, to fish the shallow inside slop areas. I find a lot of good fish in these areas when all the other fishermen are working the deep edges.

| Your answer is in your question..........when it's not productive.
I know that it is hard to move away from structure that is easy to see and follow. It holds true for all species.
I make the move, simply by alternating casts....one over the edge, then one out at a slight angle, then one at a 45 degree angle away from the weed edge. If not that, I'll make one pass early in the day along the edge, then come back later in the day and make another pass from 30-40 yards off of the weedline with a different presentation.
With 2 guys in the boat, you can have one guy cast in and one guy cast out.
