Location: Michigan | I have a hand full of Ernies and Lil Ernies that I picked up when I first started muskie fishing 5 years ago. I was rummaging through my lures and got to asking myself why I never throw them...
When and how do you use these baits? What do you throw that accomplishes the same thing? |

As for Ernies. I like to troll them mostly. The rattle in most is a clunk, clunk, which I like in a bait. Not the little balls that are in some rattle baits that sound like sand in a shaker. I do cast them down weed edges and around rock bars close to deeper water. I like how they dive and back out if you hit weeds. Just give them some slack line once you feel the weeds and they will back out of them, then continue to reel them in. I don't use the large ones much but some guys love them. Great baits that do catch me a lot of fish each year. |

| Just ordered a fire tiger lil ernie. Heard of several muskies caught trolling at Pomme de Terre.
Never owned one before. I figured Bagley's DB 06 and monster shad could be used just as well.
I ordered a jointed ernie too. Wondering what others think of that lure.

| I love ernies big lip is great for banging against the rocks. I have broke alot of the wooden lures like the Bagleys. I will also use them in deep river channel and sharp drop offs. I will also sometimes load them with BB's if I need to get down deeper or if I need more sound. |

| They are great trolling baits and I have many patterns in both sizes. They are good for casting but I prefer a DDD, Depth Raider or Legend Perch Bait in that case. |

Ernie Shavers once fought Ali and was known in the heavyweight division as one of the most powerful punchers ever to lace up the gloves. He once fought outdoors behind a bar in Wales, WI.
Ernie Schlegel was one of the most flamboyant characters ever to compete on the PBA tour. He was known for his outrageous outfits through the 1970's and early 1980's. Once during Miller Open qualifying, a guy I know yelled that he needed to adjust his shot after leaving several solid ten pins. Ernie replied, "I am adjusting kid, 1/8" at a time."
Tennesse Ernie Ford is probably best known for his rendition of the coal miner's song "Sixteen Tons", but he was quite a popular radio and television performer in the 1950's and 1960's.

Location: oswego, il | Ali called him "acorn head". Man was that funny. Shavers had Holmes out on his feet late in their fight and was too tired to finish him off and lost by decision. Shavers was knocked out in the first round by Jerry Quarry. |

| This past year I modified the Ernie and made it one of the easiest to use twitch baits. The lure will now run alot shallower and best of all it produces. Come to the Chicago, Blaine and Milwaukee Muskie shows to see them, and talk to me at the Drifter Booth.
