Posts: 401 | Hello all. I have an observation that I have noticed with a couple articles either written about or written by folks I have fished with. What brings this to mind for me was this months article written in Muskie Inc Magazine about Gary Bartlett. My dad and I stayed with and fished with Gary for three days up on the Northwest Angle. As I was reading this article, I noticed the information Gary gave to the writer is exactly how Gary fishes the angle. The key is to find little points of interest. Example Gary talks about casting angles.....The goal of my trip with my dad up there was to get him a good musky. My dad got his good one while doing a cast back angle along the shore which is mentioned in the article. Just one example. Gary is a very good fisherman and comes highly recommended. If you fish central Minnesota, you should get your hands on every article written by Dan Craven or Rob Kimm in either In Fisherman, Esox Angler or Outdoor News. Both of them write very imformative articles about how they have found fish. I have seen them apply what they write. It is how they fish. Maybe that is why they are so well respected. These are just a couple of the folks I have been fishing with and took note at how they approach different kinds of situations. Guess what I am saying is pay attention to detail when reading articles. Anybody else have the same experience? Keith | ||

| Gary and Rob have both been speakers at my Muskies Inc. chapter's meetings. They were more than willing to give out any information they had, and answer any question that you asked. A few of the "Big Time" guys have come to speak at our meetings, although it was a few years ago, before I had joined. From what I hear, some of them wouldn't even tell you what lure color to try. Why would we pay them to speak at a meeting if they're going to keep everything they know a secret? I enjoyed the article by Pat about fishing with Gary, and although I don't get to fish LOTW as much as I'd like, I think I'll remember to try the information out that he passed along. I do remember one occasion where I was fishing in the back of my brother's boat on LOTW. He doesn't leave much water untouched, as he's a good fisherman and tries to hit all the angles. I made a cast to a spot he had fired two casts into seconds before and I caught a 37 incher. He couldn't believe it, as he had just put two casts into that very spot. The boat had kept moving, and I suppose my lure was going through there at a different angle. Bang!. As I said, guys like Gary and Rob are more than willing to offer advice and assistance whenever they can. We should all follow in their footsteps. By the way, did you like the Sucker Creek article written by yours truly? | |||
