| Like the diawa a lot. Does it have the same reel foot as the millionaires and AC300? I have a couple AC300 reels and their nice, but don't fit some reel seats.
I used a buddy's calcuttaB and it felt smooth. Any feedback?

Location: Waconia, MN | I'm a Calcutta guy myself, I use the 400TE's, and i know you were asking about the Luna vs. the Calcutta B, but after talking with Jonesi over the last month or so, I think I'm gonna give the Luna a try and see how she work. It will be a little easier on the pocket book as well.
This is NOT a plug either for the luna or Jonesi....

Location: Downers Grove, IL | I've used TE's for the last two years and just bought a Luna this winter. I used it on Webster last week and all I can say is WOW. The handles are totally different--nice and fat with good grip. Plus the reel is a lot narrower which is something I like. I'm looking forward to seeing how it takes the abuse this season.

Location: Central Iowa | man I wish I could fish a luna this year...I fish lefty reels only so I'm very limited in my selection of muskie reels. I have a Daiwa CVZ253 and absolutely love the reel but neither Daiwa nor St. Croix offer the 300 size in lefty...it drives me nuts. Maybe I need relearn how to fish and switch to right handers. |

| Well, I must say that my Luna has been put thru the ringer this year chucking mag dawgs, pounders, double cowgirls, and the big suzi suckers, and not to jinx myself but this thing is the reel deal. |

Location: menasha wi 54952 | I have nothing but great things to say about the Luna. I have tried every reel out there and I would have to say the Luna is hands down the best. I have both size Lunas (253 & 300) and have had no issues with either. I may not be as hard as some on my equipment. During a normal season I usually clean and lube my reels before I go on any trips. This year I did not. I did not have any problems.
I use the 253 on a 8' FigRig Toothtamer Heavy and the 300 on a 8' Premier MH. Both reels fit snug in the reel seats of both rods. No twisting or leaning to one side. I was a bit concerned that the 253 was too small and that the level wind not disengaging during the cast would limit cast length. Not a problem with either. I even replaced the handle on the 253(Small paddles) with a handle from the 300 and pounded the snot out of it with every kind of lure I could. They both passed with flying colors. I will be getting a couple more over the winter.

| i have two years of using the same three calcutta b's. i have used them for pounders, mag dawgs, cowgirls.....they have been flawless for me so far. i love the things, best part is i send them away to shimano and they clean and inspect the things for ten or so dollars. they come back cleaned and ready to go. wouldnt trade them for anything. |

| this ? is for the people running luna's....Does the push button not pop back up in cold weather? I had 3 calcutta's do that to me this fall I would cast and go to engage reel and all the handle did was spin....button never popped up to engage reel had to crack button several times to get to engage....really hope the luna doesn't have this problem because I might decide to change over... 
Also was on the daiwa site and I now see the offer the 300 in the lefty model!!!!

Location: north central wisconsin | Um, a disengaging level wind does just the opposite for me. It shortens my cast length. Reading back on your earlier posts, are you sure you don't mean you prefer the non disengaging level wind?? That definately affors longer casts in my opinion(line won't bunch up as the level wind tracks during the cast). I know that on my smaller Morrums, the disengaging level wind causes the line to bunch up at times, if one is not used to casting it, or picks it up for a cast after using a model that stays engaged. I guess I am not interested in the Luna if the level wind does not stay engaged. |

On most small reels the levelwind disengages on the cast and stays in one place. Like Jason said it can cause problems at times bunching up the line. The Luna 253 does stay in one place but I have not had any problems with line bunching. The 300 stays engaged and the levelwind follows the line as it comes off the spool.
