| I fish with Cobb's Jerk baits 6 1/2 inch to 8 1/2 inches long. Suick 9 inches long, Ammabamma 8 inches long and Phantoms by Todd Cleveland 6 inches to 7 1/2 inches and Hughys and Shakers 6 to 8 inches long. I also use St Croix Avid rods I have got Daiwa Millionaire CV-z 300 A reels. I have trouble picking up the line with my the CV-z 300 A Daiwas. It is a 5.1.1 So I have been Abu 6500-C4 ABU. What is a the best reel for using with these jerk baits? My email is [email protected] |

Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | i use a 6500 C-4
6.3-1 gear ratio. It works, even better when your spool is as full as you can get it. If there is a higher ratio, it would probably suck at fighting fish.
my two cents are always free. |

I would concur with the above advise. I really like my C4. Another option might be the Quantum Cabo with its 5.7:1 gear ratio. I don't know what the line pick-up comparison is between these and the Daiwa would be, but I like my Quantum (I have an earlier version than the Cabo, but very similar). However, I haven't used the Q with jerkbaits, only topwater/bucktails/twitchbaits. C4 would still probably be my first choice.
Good luck, |

Location: Munster, IN | I throw Suicks a whole bunch, both 9" & 10" sizes.
I use a Abu Garcia C4 too, keep the spool full like was suggested and you should do just fine.
For all you jerk bait lovers out there we are introducing a new dive & rise action wood bait that
is really easy to work, has great action and gets down deep too.
Here is a picture of it.
