| Much depeneds on the weather of course. You can check out the Fox Chain which is in Northern Illinois (antioch area) or you can move towards central Illinois and do Shelbyville. Southern Illinois has Kinkaid lake. Shelbyville and Kinkaid will be open. Those are a few of the lakes to check out. |

| Hi,
What area are you planning on fishing? or where will you be at? That will help to specify what lakes are in the area.
good luck

| Definately depends on the weather but I wouldn't expect the chain to be open. If it is you will need to be careful as the bouys won't be out yet and there may be some debris in the water. Shabona is another on the list of lakes in the Northern part of the state but it will be as susecptable to ice as the chain. If you have a 10hp kicker you could try Evergreen a few minutes north of Bloomington. It is also growing a new layer of ice as we speak. |

| I hear Spring Lake S.W. of Peoria/Pekin is seeing some action already. This lake averages like 4' deep so warms up quickly.
Evergreen north of Bloomington/Normal could also warm up by then.
The north end of Lake Shelbyville could also.
But if you really have your heart on catching a fish and you have the extra travel time, head to Kinkaid in southern Illinois west of Carbondale. Chad Cain's got a pic on the home page of this website that he caught Jan. 17.

| BrianG do you have an email? I would be glad to help you out and would email you the lakes are open close to that time. My home lake was open last weekend but i'm sure this crazy weather the whole lake is covered again[:knockout:] I really depends on the weather for sure. |
