Location: Wauwatosa, WI | Will be going past rollie and helen's the first weekend of Nov. for the Mani's cisco run, and could use another reel and was wondering what people thought of this product. The description sez it works great in the cold, does it? It's more than I would like to pay, but if it stands up to it, I would go ahead and get one.

Location: Davenport, IA | I have 2 older Diawa Millionaire CV-X 253a's. The CVX is a set below the cvz which was replaced by the luna. I wish every muskie reel I had was a Millionaire or Luna. 4 years with no repairs. I haven't even taken the apart to lube them. (will in offseason though) They are one tough reel. I've had problems with my garcias and shimanos and my okuma is just not a real smooth reel. My Pflueger trions have been good, but have a weird antireverse. Its not a problem because they all do it, but don't feel as natural on the rod as a diawa. They have a recessed foot that makes them easier to palm. I love when people say, "My hands are too big for smaller reels." Thats a lie. My hands are big enough to easily palm a penn 209, but I'd rather use a low profile. I don't know of an acceptable low profile reel for muskies yet (curado 300 would be nice if it was 5:1 instead of 6:1) So the 253 Diawa is my favorite. |
