has anyone had good luck with Fuzzy Duzzits and cisco based lakes in the fall? If so, looking for a few tips. One do you have better luck with the big fuzzy or the next size down?
Also do you put the fuzzy where the bait is? or above or below it? Long sweeping pulls up and slow fall I assume? I've done some fuzzy duzzit fishing ..did some last fall w/ no luck on the lake w/ ciscos...any tips etc appreciated....thanks

I like the smaller original size one. I have had the best luck staying near the bottom and even hitting the bottom slightly with each pull. They almost always hit on the fall so "follow" the line back down on the fall without putting tension on the bait. I think Shumway stopped putting the rigid wire leader on the baits. I would highly recommend a 12 " piece of .051 wire looped directly to the bait and a loop on the other end to tie directly to. It nearly eliminates fouling. Also, watch the hole in the bait where the leader gets attached. If you do enough of this jigging, you will wear through eventually.

My favorite spots are hard bottom (even just sand) flats in 25-35 feet of water near an area where you know Ciscos are spawning.

One last thing I'd like to offer. I started making my own design of this type of bait. It looks like a huge Zip-Lure. It works much better than the F-D. I started making my own for one reason. The F-D's take too much force to get them wobbling. If you are lifting them 36", the first 18" is wasted because they take too long to start wobbling. The one I designed starts wobbling immediately. It make a difference. I have also noticed that sometimes after one fish the F-D's don't work right.

It's a deadly tactic when the water gets in the low 40's and lower. Don't be surprised if you develop tennis-elbow from doing this all day.

Here's a question, if they hit on the fall, what difference does it make if it takes 18" to get it to wobble, when pulling it up?

By your own description, that is not the key movement.

Yikes!, I didn't know that there were that many vertical jiggers out there.

I have never even thought about going into production of that bait. I am hand cutting them out of brass one at a time on a jig saw and hand fitting the weight. I have just made them for myself and a few friends.

At least let me see if I can shoot a picture so you can see one for now.

Thanks for all the feedback.

I've heard of using fuzzies along with deep suckers as a system in the fall. The jigging fuzzy brings the fish in, but the fish usually takes the sucker. You can tell when the Duzzy is doing it's job when the suckers starts getting real nervous. I've never tried it but it makes a lot of sense.

Keeps telling me that my attachment needs to be less than 200kb. Not sure how to change the picture to get it to accept it. What do I need to do to the picture? Thanks.

Do you have "Paint"? If you're not sure, right click on your picture. If you can right click on it and you can go to "open with" and then "paint"....go this route. Once you have your picture opened with paint you can resize it. Simply go to "Image", then "Stretch/Skew". Then in your stretch variables simply reduce the values lower than 100%. Make sure whatever percentages you use are equal values for both horizontal and vertical. Plug in whatever numbers that you need to in order to get it small enough. Super simple way to resize your pictures.

The ones on the right are the smaller ones that I use. The patterns on the left are for some of the bigger ones I have made for others.

Those are cool!

How do you attach the lead. Are they rubber core sinkers?

How about the original question but in the summer with baitfish located over deep open water?
