Has anyone out there used the Salmo Hodag topwater lure? I'm looking for some feedback on how well it performs... or a description of its "action". How does it compare to the Hawg Wobbler? Thanks!

Extremely similar to a Hawg Wobbler except for it is shorter and fatter...plus it glows in the dark so it makes it easier to see at night..mine is black/orange on the bottom half and glow on the top half so I can see it at night...it can be worked extremely slow or at a faster pace...plus it has its own unique sound unlike anything I have used...I had a follow on one at Mille Lacs within the first 15 minutes of using it...personally I like it...

Thanks for the feedback. Are you saying that the Hodag can be retrieved faster than a traditional Hawg Wobbler and it won't "blow out" or submerse?

I like that this bait is PLASTIC (It is plastic, isn't it?)... but I am skeptical of the inability to adjust/tune the lip. However, if the bait does what I hope... and requires no tuning... than the durability of this lure is a big big plus.

its not plastic they say on the websight it is a high density foam thats like plastic but a little different i have the salmo mass murader(sp?) and the dinner bell and like both the dinner bell if LOUD and the mass murader is different so they seem nice hope this helps guts

yep...i've reeled mine at a great clip before and it won't blow out...it depends on the speed though...you can't troll it at 3.5 mph but you can real it at a good clip and still keep it from blowing out...I have had the most luck working it at a snails pace though...like I said I love mine...I bought this instead of a hawg wobbler...

Jason,

You'll be quite satisfied with the Hodag. One big advantage of this bait is that (like has been mentioned) is that you can increase the speed of the bait with out it rolling or blowing out. Either way, slow or fast, it has a great sound and is a very well built bait that has a great finish that is very tough to scar up and need no tuning. My best results have been on the Black Hodag (BH) or the Starry Night (SN) pattern that is new to this lure.
