This probably isnt the right area to post but I figured someone here would definately know. My friends and I are heading to Windsor tomorrow afternoon (last minute bachelor party) the only problem is that no one decided to check out what is needed to cross the boarder. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Also will it be a problem crossing with a rental car?? What esle beside gamble is there to do? I wish we would have planned this sooner then at least I could have planned a fishing trip in there at some time. Thanks a million.

Each person needs thier drivers license or state id and a birth certificate. There are some night clubs and strip bars in windsor.

Posts: 476 Location: WI | Crossing with a rental car shouldn't be a problem. I did that a few years ago. Make sure to have the rental contract available for inspection. Check out these two links for more answers: http://www.andymyerslodge.com/regulation.htm http://www.andymyerslodge.com/reports.htm (under bording crossing info) Have a good bachelor party! Posts: 476 Location: WI | Don't go by my word.... but I have never had to show a birth certificate. I was in Canada this May and all we needed was a driver's license. Typically a birth certificate with a raised seal is need to get in and out of Mexico, etc. If you have the birth certificate with a raised seal, I would bring that as well. GotOne

Posts: 14 Location: Green Bay | You will probably need the original. For some reason I thought as of July 1 this year you need a passport to get into Canada. I may be wrong and that might be July 1 of next year.

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Just crossed over about three weeks ago....no need for a birth certificate, not sure why that was brought up....just bring your drivers license and you will be set to go. Mike

Posts: 2091 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Here is the exact info from US State Department. CANADA – Passport or proof of U.S. citizenship such as a birth certificate, naturalization certificate, and photo ID required. Minors (under 16) traveling alone or in someone else’s custody must present written authorization, signed before a notary, from the parent(s) or guardian. Visas are not required. Canadian immigration officials at ports of entry will issue persons planning to stay longer than 180 days a visitor’s record. Anyone with a criminal record (including a DWI charge) should contact the Canadian Embassy or nearest Consulate General before travel. U.S. citizens entering Canada from a third country must have a valid passport. HIV testing required for resident applicants who are over 15. A temporary resident applicant requires immigration medical examination if stay exceeds 6 months or seeking to work in Canada. For student or business travel, check with the Canadian Embassy, 501 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20001 (202/682-1740) or the nearest Consulate General: CA (213/346-2701), MI (313/567-2085), NY (212/596-1700 or 716/858-9501), or WA (206/443-1375). Posts: 332 Location: Michigan | I live 30 minutes from the Windsor border crossing and cross on a regular basis. Like BenR stated you have always needed a passport or birth cert. along with your drivers license or state ID, and while they most likely dont ask for the passport or birth certificate(original or state certified copy with raised seal) you can be denied entry if they do ask and you fail to produce either document. I have been asked before. Jason

![]() Posts: 910 Location: Hastings, mn, 55033 | also, if you plan on hitting the "gentlemens" clubs, get some $$ exchanged before hand. canadaian strip clubs sell "dancer dollars" since the ladies dont like the dollar coins, and i've found they dont generally give you the best exchange rate right at the joint....must figure guys see beer and boobs and aint gonna worry about getting hosed on the exchange rate...eh! p.s. there is also a main drag of sorts (forget the name) with a ton of bars and clubs. in the summer the sidewalk table etc are filled with young lasses (must be the 19 yr old drinking age) not sure if it will be as busy this time of year but one can only hope. great place to have fun...just be safe (it might not hurt to have a lawyer on speed dial just in case ![]()
