Location: north central wisconsin | I know I am preaching to the choir here, and have spoken about this before, but thought it has been about a year so I'd see if there has been any development. I am wondering if anyone has customized a 620 or 618T for a rear deck yet. Again, the wife and I are looking to get into one of these for next season, but will do so only if I can come up with a decent rear deck assembly. Tuffy is the next on our list, but I would need some other customization for it to work for me(front deck is tooooooo big). That said, at least Tuffy has their boats built so a rear deck can be an option. With the control panel in the location it is on the Ranger, it is nearly impossible to even make something work. I emailed Ranger, and the local rep(Steven Lindaahl) did call me right away and was very helpful and wanted to get me into one of their rigs. He said there was no plans to change anything, and that a customized deck would need to be made(I knew that already), but did say he was glad to hear from someone who uses these rigs for musky fishing alot, and had suggestions for a possible improvement. I told him how popular the 620T has become for a musky fishing rig, and that if he knew where guys were standing in the back to get elevated(the rubber pads on the transom), he'd see what I was talking about. If someone has made a deck that doesn't look out of place, please send pics to me, as I'd greatly appreciate it. [email protected] I can only wait and hope..... |

| If you want a rear casting deck and a tiller look at Yar Craft boats they got it down. built with a rear casting deck not as an optional thing which is nice and it looks like you can get a 60" livewell. 2090bt is the boat im looking at. also they are supposed to be dryer than rangers.  |

| How would you run a tiller with a rear casting deck, mount the driver's seat right on the deck? I see on the Tuffy site that you wold pretty much just use the rear livewell to stand on, looks big enough. |

| FYI here's a few pics of Paul Klein in his 1890T with no rear deck, and an overhead shot of the 1890 layout, 1890 t is the same general layout minus the consoles and add the port electronics/storage console..

| I heard somewhere that Luke Ronnestrand and a few others have custom back decks in their 618T's. Might be worth tracking one of them down and asking about it. |

| I know Luke and Gregg both stand in the little corner in the back of the boat when they are guiding. However they both have a front deck extension that they had made for them. I don't think that Ranger offers them. It is an awesome feature. Anyone with a 618T or 620T should have the front extended. |

Have checked out any of the Tritons? They have removable back casting platforms in the back that are very nice to cast from. The layout seems to be more similar to the Tuffy vs. the Ranger. |

check out the Triton 202 tiller...that thing looks pretty sweet and it looks like you or someone handy could easily make a rear casting deck/platform...and the front deck is not super huge like you are looking for....

| Or look into the Tuffy and get a rear module that is built for the boat with gullwing lid tackle storage. The deck module looks like part of the boat when installed with 4 bolts, and is out of the boat in less than two minutes. The module is composite, and has a polyflake finish front panel. Buy the motor brand YOU want, not what the builder has on the transom, and get a tiller with an 8' to 9.5' rod locker in a 1700GT, 1760, 1760 GT, 1890, 1890GT, or 2060, ALL with the same interior easily fishing three or four, and all with the deck module standard in the Esox Deep V. No build-it-yourself or order it seperately in an Esox Deep V, because Tuffy figures it should be STANDARD in a muskie boat. |

Location: north central wisconsin | Thanks, I'll check into the Triton. Will look at the tuffy too. Where can I see one with the custom deck and lure compartment? Concerned with my buddies newer tuffy's dry storage that isn't dry though.
Wouldn't want the front deck extended. Shortened if anything. Someone asked where I'd sit. Just as I do in my current rig, I'd put the seat post mount in the platform allowing me to use it for a butt seat or drivers seat. for that matter, I could care less about the rear seat, and can modify my own bracket like mine, or one that the seat flips forward so the person in back has a non obstructed deck. My point in all of this, is watching Luke R stand on that back rubber piece. Makes me shiver. saw a dude fall out of his boat this spring in cold water. Didn't look like fun. A rear deck is a must when I spend the cash. Look at an alumacraft Navigator and you'll see quite possibly the finest Musky Tiller layout. Too bad it is aluminum, or I'd buy.
I'll just keep bugging, and posting. Sooner or later Ranger and co. will listen.

| If the storage in a new Tuffy with the sealed lockers is getting wet, the fix is easy as can be; tighten the lock seals and the compartments will be bone dry no matter what. I can tell you from experience the Ranger compartments can and do get wet, too.
To answer the Tuffy 1890 T question we saw earlier, a ready to fish 1890 T, Keel Guard, Poly flake, sonars, GPS, Trolling motor, Stainless prop, 90 4 stroke, tandem trailer with brakes,spare, matching polyflake fiberglass fenders...water ready:
Low thirties suggested retail.
This is a 19' class boat.
Tuffy has a new 2007 model in the 1890 line coming that has the same open gunnel as the rest of the low profile muskie rigs, has a bit lower profile, same great hull and interior for a couple grand less.
Rig a 2060 T like the 1890 above but power her with a 150 and a Merten's Power Steering system, and you'll be in the middle to upper middle thirties suggested retail LOADED and the boat will hit 50 MPH loaded up. This would be a 20' boat.

I just saw the the 620T that Brad Hoppe is running and boy does it look sweet, it looked like a bass boat. He buillt a back deck with pedestal seat in the boat. He still has a opening were is runs the boat, the and back deck on hinges, for storage and placing the lakewood under, the open area for passenger to ride. Contact brack and he might be able to send you some pics.
