Location: South Portsmouth, KY | I got an Abu Garcia 6500C3 real with a 5:3:1 gear ratio on it. Would this reel and gear ratio be a wise choice for burning bucktails, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits? Thanks!

| It would work. It would work better with a power handle.
Big bucktails or little ones?

Mostley tails like llungen tails, double cowgirls, mepps marabou. Also what would be the advantage with the power handle? |

A power gives you more leverage and makes it easier to crank faster. I out them on all my reels.
That gear ratio will be fine, but if you really want to BURN some tails get a 7000 with the 4.1:1 ratio. Cant beat that reel for crankin' power |

Location: The desert | I definately second the choice of putting a power handle on your reel. Makes a huge difference!

| You can get the fastest overall speed from a 7000 HS or HSN with 5.3:1 gears, and a FULL spool of line. This reel works great for burning small bucktails, but it's a bit more arm work for burning the double cows. For that, the regular 7000 above is easier to reel them in with, just not as fast in my opinion. |

| I like the 5.7:1 ratio of my Cabo. Fast enought to get blades spinning fast and easy, not so fast that it is a chore to turn the handle. |
