Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Hey guys, The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Fisheries Society is getting ready for their annual fundraising banquet. The society is composed of students at the college who are interested in becoming a Fisheries major or who already have declared a Fisheries Major. What the society does is get students exposed to the type of work they will be doing with a degree in Fisheries. Some of the events we do on a yearly basis are: fyke netting the Wisconsin River, trout habitat restoration, stream shocking surveys, water quality surveys, crib building and many other things. To do all these things we need funds which are raised in our annual banquet. Last year the banquet's keynote speaker was MuskieFirst member Todd Forcier. Todd gave a great presentation on fishing muskies around the Point area and the Petenwell Flowage. How can you help? We are in need of any sort of donation such as Baits, Gift Certificates, Guide dates, T-Shirts, Hats, Magazine subscription or just about anything you could think of. The future of our fisheries will be protected and improved upon by graduates from the UWSP Fisheries Program. If you can help out in any way, the UWSP Fisheries Society would greatly appreciate your help! This is pretty late notice since the banquet is coming up soon. The date of the Banquet is October 20th. Thanks everyone! I can be contacted directly at [email protected] Mike Bolinski Edited by Pointerpride102 9/13/2006 5:36 PM

Posts: 2754 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | PP- You can count Zalt NAD in to help. Lure manufacturers are bombarded daily for free stuff, from all kinds of angles, i.e., this cause, that cause. Some are worthy, some are not , depending on the your perspective. I think this is a worthy cause (of benefit to the muskie fishery and WI in general). When is it happening? I'm getting ready to head north on a 7 day fly-n so I don't have much freetime right now. The devil is in the details. Al

Posts: 299 Location: Nowheresville, MN | Pictures and descriptions of past projects can be found here... http://www.uwsp.edu/stuorg/fishery/ I can vouch as a past president that this student subunit of the Wisconsin chapter of the American Fisheries Society might possibly be the most active in the country. The only thing from keeping it beeing recognized as such by the national chapter is UWSP not applying for it. Most other student chapters do lake clean-ups and maybe a survey or two, while the agenda at UWSP is booked pretty much solid (at least it used to be). Mike, you need to get that site updated. Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | Mike, The Consolidated Musky Club will donate a couple lures and possibly a guide date. As a CNR alumni, I'll kick in a couple lures myself. We can talk on the water some time. Edited by Reef Hawg 9/14/2006 12:41 PM

Posts: 0 | Mike- My wife organized the first ever banquet...glad to see that it is still going strong. I organized the raffle the first year...as per muskynightmare's comment it is inevitable that thank-yous are sent out...its a small way to show the socities appreciation. Also have you sent out the invitations yet? If not when can we expect to see them?

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | R Theel, I am not in charge of anything having to do with the banquet this year. I organized it last year and had recieved many good donations. I think that this year the guy that is running it didnt do much with the donations and then when he realized he didnt have any he contacted me since I have a fair amount of connections. So with not running it this year I do not know if invitations went out yet or not. I hope that he did get them out otherwise he isnt going to get many people. As far as "thank-you's" are concerned, I am not going to rely on the guy running it to get them out to anyone so I will personally send them out and everyone that donates can expect one. I do apologize to Rob as I was sure I wrote him one and mailed it, however I could have screwed the address up or something. So everyone that donates will recieve a personal letter from me. Thanks to everyone who donated and if anyone else out there can help I would greatly appreciate it! Mike Bolinski UWSP Fisheries Society
