Posts: 96 | Was out musky fishing last night - reared back to cast and let it rip. Next thing I know, there goes my St. Croix sailing out in the drink. ![]()

Posts: 89 | I'm embarrased to say that's happened to me more than once. Yup, a flat learning curve. I've never lost them though, being able to fish them out with another rig. Once I had to return in the morning to do it but those rigs are back in the saddle. At $150-200/combo, it's worth taking the time to dredge them out of the drink. It's also worth securing them in the first place.

Posts: 654 Location: MPLS, MN | I was trolling once and not paying enough attention when a fish hit and yanked the rod out of my hands. Lost the rod/reel/lure/fish all in one. Hope the fish got unhooked.

Posts: 6 | That's funny, I just posted about the one that I lost a few weeks ago the same exact way, except I wasn't able to recover mine. I am going back up in a couple of weeks to try and recover it. The bummer is, it is in 10 feet of water and thick weeds so I don't know if I will be able to retrieve it or not. We are going to bring the aqua view to see if we can see it. Oh yeah, glad to hear I am not the only one who has done this. I sure felt like idiot of the year after that one. I also lost two cowgirls that day, and was only able to retrieve one. I was about ready to throw everything in and never musky fish again. But then it happened. I had one bite me at boat side, but I was unable to hook up. So I stopped being pissed about my lost rod and reel, and now I was pissed about losing a musky boat side. There is no cure is there? Posts: 6 | Hey TB, If you have any luck getting it out of the weeds let me know how you did it. At least yours is a little shallower than mine so you might even be able to jump in and feel around with your feet. Good luck. Mike J

Posts: 1184 Location: Iowa Great Lakes | I tossed 1 out of the boat a couple years ago. Was raining and cold just slipped out of my hands on the cast, luckily my Fenwick floats, least long enough to retrive it.
