Posts: 2112 Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | Warning! The Nightmare is coming! LOL Seriously, I'm going to be down in Sullivan, IL the night of Thursday, Sept. 21st for training. From what I understand, this is near the upper reaches of Lake Shelbyville. Is this a good time of year to fish the upper reaches? Anyone have an open seat that evening? Rob

Posts: 2024 | Take the extra time to launch from the South end in the town of Shelbyville... you won't be disappointed.

Posts: 2112 Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | It is not financially sound for me to drag our boat 7 hours to fish by myself. I was hoping for an open seat. If i can find one, I'll do four free custom repaints for whoever would take me out.

Posts: 2024 | Rob, Visit the Lake Shelbyville Muskie Club website and see if anyone would be willing to take you out. I would but school kinda gets in the way of things during the week. Good luck! www.shelbyvillemuskie.com

Posts: 20238 Location: oswego, il | Definitely fish the south end by the dam. Lithia springs and the rip rap down towards the dam. Other coves near there are good as well. Best eats in town is at the longbranch right in the downtown area of shelbyville and it is good eats as you often have to wait for a table. I would have you tell them Todd sent you but I did not have enough pull to get one of the pretty waitresses or one of their friends to give muskyboy a lap dance(it's not a strip jointy mind you) on his birthday! ![]()

Posts: 2112 Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | I have to drive 7 hours to get to Sullivan. what's another hour? another hour back. I put on 946 miles onthe the truck this week, dogged a deer, and put the truck in the ditch.

Posts: 2024 | If you're staying in Sullivan I would try launching from Eagle Creek. I haven't spent too much time in that area but its got some great mainlake points and interesting wooded coves. Try the coves in the Findlay Marina, the rip rap there at Findlay, any coves near Findlay, basically if you're up that way fish Findlay.

Cast the spillway if you can't find someone to take you out. Always a chance at a musky from shore ![]()
