Since Long Tale Tackle is in the CUSTOM lure business... it was only a matter of time before the requests for a Flashabou body would inspire some prototypes. Combine that with the recent Cowgirl craze... and its tough not to join the party.

Flashabou looks like crap when dry and static electricity takes over.... but get the stuff wet and it shimmers and shakes like flashy marabou. Fred Johnson's original Tinsel Tails were one of my personal favorite bucktails too.... so I just had to experiment. Still tweakin' the design... but wanted to put out a teaser for some feedback. We need help for a name.... unless you like Shimmer Shot.... but I was thinking more of a color pattern rather than an entire lure line. Maybe someting like the Shimmerin' Series of Long Tale Spinnnerbaits? Any other ideas? And... is there any interest for this kinda stuff?

Great looking lure, thanks for showing it here.

About how many lures would you say you've sold because of your advertising your lures here on this site? I'm thinking about making and selling lures and really dont want to have to pay advertising, but this Basement Baits deal looks like a pretty cool place to let people see them.

I like it! Will you just be making those larger sizes?

Kevin,

This forum has been priceless in regard to "advertising". Its also a great resource for getting feedback when working on new projects such as the Flashabou thing-a-ma-jigger on this thread.

I'd explore other vehicles for promoting your business if you want it to flourish beyond "basement bait" status though. If you want to sell retail... you will need more than to exploit the generosity of MuskieFIRST and this forum.... in my opinion. And LongTaleTackle plans to remain at the Basement Bait status.

The picture above is actually the smaller size... using a 1.5 oz. head. All sizes can be made with the flashabou.... but the larger lures will be more costly as this Flashabou stuff ain't cheap and it requires a lot of material to get enough "bulk" to the body for a reasonable profile.

The double shot pictured above is about 7 inches from the tip of the head to the end of the lure-body.

The twist tie is just there for the photo.... otherwise the lure looks like an 80's metal head with a bad hair day.

Marabou looks different dry vs. wet... and so does flashabou. The twist tie was simply put on to help show what the bait will look like in the water.
