| Anyone have any luck catching tigers at night? I’ve always been under the assumption that they behave a little more like pike and don’t feed too much after dark. Just wondering if it’s worth trying them on a few of the local lakes.

Location: Ogden, Ut | I haven't done it much. I have had success in the pitch darkness prior to sun up, but never any success after sunset. I've probably only fished a couple of hours either side of dusk though, never in the middle of the night. Conventional assumptions, as you have indicated, point out that they favor the northern pike half of their heritage, but they are half muskie, so half of the rulebook is out the window too...

Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | I know that the tigers I've had in my fishtank eat at night. They've gone through 1/4 scoop of minnows in a night before. Whether they're like that in the wild is anyones guess. I'd suspect that since they do it without any fishing pressure that they'd probably be more likely to do it with fishing pressure. |

| Even if they do take after the pike a little more, its still worth a shot. Pike bite at night too. Every year I catch a few pike out walleye fishing hours after dark. My buddy caught a small tiger a few weeks ago about 3 hours after sunset.

| We have 18-plus Tiger muskie lakes stocked in the TC area,,,They say muskies are the fish of 10,000 casts,,,,if your gonna fish tigers at night make it the fish of a million casts,,,,,If anybody knows somebody whos consistently catching tigers at night please email me I would love to line them up for a seminar at our club,,We have a couple guys here in the tc area they call the "Tiger Twins" they have caught I dont know how many large tigers over the years and they have always maintained its not worth it to try |

Location: Racine, Wi | I guess I'll go against the grain a bit. I'm lucky enough to be able to fish a private lake that is stocked with tigers. We've had some really good nights for them. The tiger population has been down the past couple of years, so I haven't really seen it, but in the past we have had some great early Sept nights out there. From what I have seen on this lake at least, they have been in extrememly shallow water at night this time of the year. Every single one of them has been in less than 2 feet of water (max depth of the lake is 20') and every one on a bucktail. Not sure if it's because of the lack of pressure, but having many multiple tiger nights out there, would say they can be caught at night. |

| I appreciate the responses. Unfortunately I’m even more confused now, as guys seem to have a few different opinions. Guess I will have to try a few nights in the coming weeks. |

Location: Southern W.Va. | Was bass fishing a 300 acre lake in southern W.Va. a few years ago and was bit off by 4 muskys in 1 night and heard another guy in another boat say " That sure wasn't a bass, wish I'd brought some leaders with me." We talked a minute and found out he was throwing the same lure I was , only different color, 8" Zoom lizard. Fished the same lake this weekend and never saw a fish.
