I know the WMT requires a 45 inch live well. It is also required that the aerator is run continiously when a musky is inside the live well. One of the best features I have seen lately is a rod locker on the floor of area beween your walk through windshield. Really makes great use of "wasted" space.

The PMTT is a little more vague. "All teams MUST have a livewell of sufficient size to, in the opinion of the PMTT tournament judges or officials, adequately handle the size of the fish being transported."

the wmt does not require u to have a 45" livewell, and the pmtt is a judge boat tourny so i wouldnt think livewell size mattered, you leave the fish in the net in the water until judge gets there, as for livewell size my opinion is bigger the better, crestliner, ranger, tuffy all make boats with huge livewells, also if u plan on tourny fishing the wdnr may be making it manitory that livewells must be of a certain lenght in the future to even fish in any tournys, just a rumor i heard, but when planning on a new boat it is something to consider.

From the WMT website: "Contestant boats must have an operating aerated live well; should be at least 45 inches in length."

Posts: 2112 Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | In my Fisher 170 Hawk, the rear livewell is 51". When not in use as a "livewell", I store my trolling equipment, sucker net, and other stuff that goes unused most of the time.

Posts: 155 | I want to fish a tourny on Green Bay.They have a 50" size limit. So wouldn,t be illegal to put an under size fish in the boat? One more question. Can I use a big cooler and rig it up with an aerator in case I have to use my existing boat.Thanx again...Just checking all possibilities.Tim

Posts: 5874 | If you are talking the MI tourney in October, this is a judge boat tourney. No fish in the livewell under 50" would be the regulation for GB.

Posts: 2894 Location: Yahara River Chain | Perfect Drift, you are correct in that you can not put an undersized fish in your livewell as you would be taking possession of that fish (WI has a no cull rule which also plays into this) therefore you would be in violation. I would think an aerated cooler would work as well as any livewell, but that would be up to the tournament judge(s) to say that it is ok or not to use such a devise.
