with the great reception of the abu record reel in the musky community, I hope abu expands on this line to include the 7000 series. A record 7000 hsn and the regular size 7000 in both the 5.3to 1 ratio and 4.1 ratio I think would be awesome. Any plans that? KDAWG

Unfortunately I cannot answer that. Is is not that I do not want to, but I do not know the answer. I also will not know the answer to that until you see it on the market as well.

I am no longer with Pure Fishing. I will not have any of the new inside scoops on reels or line. Pure Fishing never did much in bait for the musky market except for the big grubs and the stinger shads. They have introduced rigged eels in 8", 10" and 12" for this year though. They should be about the most inexpensive in the market, I think. Fenwick just expanded their lines last year with the different lengths of rods.

I will not be the one to answer any of the questions on the new products as far as what is coming. I will however be of assistance yet with reel problems. I still have all of the reel knowledge in my head.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

Chuck

Chuck, was it you who was talking about fishing with a new version of the 7000? One with IAR? Any idea when or if this is going to make it into production?

Tim,

Yes, I do know that the 7000's are going to have intant anti-reverse. The following are the models to look for: 7000iHSN, 7000iCS, 7000i, 7001i (lefty) and the 7000C3i. Those are the ones that are in the catalog.

Chuck:

So the new 7000's are not going to have the push button?

No push button. Small lever in about the same place. Re-engages when handle is turned just like the push button. I thought it may be a little awkward when I first saw them, but I think that they will work out well for the casters.

Handle is large and somewhat ergonomically designed.

7000's not made in Sweden, just as the new EXT's are not made in Sweden either. Swedish design made elsewhere.

Thanks for that. Hope it works out to be OK for casting with that lever rather than the button. Isn't it frustrating when they improve one thing but mess up something else?!
