| I have a straight four prong hookup for trailer lights. Lights go on with head lights but, brake lights, turn signals, or flashers will not work. Anyone know which prong is for which-brakes? Signals? How can I test or maybe clean out the connections. Need help ASAP as I am leaving on Thurs. morning. Thanks in advance. Tom |

| Check if you have a blown fuse in your truck.
If it is the fuse, then you may have to try to figure out where the bare wire, etc. is that may have caused the problem.
Generally, factory trailer wiring when I worked at a marina (30 years ago) was Yellow wire left signal, Green right signal, brown tail lights and white ground. Good luck. - jim

| Depending what truck you have, there can be up to two or three areas of fuses. Some in the passenger compartmet and some under the hood..... |

| Definately check the fuses in the truck. Look in the owners manual. If you have a factory trailer tow package, you most likely have a separate fuse or two for the trailer wiring. In my Ford, those fuses are located in the box under the hood. May be a separate fuse for the running lights and the turn/brake lights.
As said, Yellow Left, Green Right, Brown Running. Blue is Backup/Brake lockout. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | One trick I learned, you can test the light system on your trailer without hooking it up to the truck.
Take a 12v battery charger, put the neg clip to ground on the trailer. Take a roofing nail and put it in the pos clip, and touch that to the hot leads in your plug. Your lights should work; if not, the short is in the trailer and you'll know which string to check. m |
