Posts: 4 Location: Watertown, WI | Hi everyone, I plan on buying my first boat next year and I have a few questions. I've been looking at a number of manufacturers and really like the Tuffy 1890. Since I am currently deployed overseas in the big sandbox I won't be able to actually do anything until I come home for leave in April. My questions are this: 1) When do the 2007 models become available to purchase? 2) Are there any major changes to the 1890 for 2007? 3) If I decide to put money down in April will most dealers hold the boat until August? 4) Can Tuffy boats be customized in any way or is what you see what you get?? I will probably have more questions in the future, but would appreciate any info anyone could provide. I am also looking at Ranger boats and if someone could give me any pros and cons of the Tuffy vs. Ranger, that would also be a great help. Buying a boat is going to be a new venture for me and I'm trying to make it as painless as possible. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide. Brian K.

Posts: 32926 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Tuffy is building 2007 models now No major changes, the 1890 is a new model this year You can schedule the boat for a specific delivery date, so yes, especially if you order the boat early The last question depends on whay you would like to see. Let me know and I'll get an answer.

Posts: 4 Location: Watertown, WI | Thank you for the answers. The only customizing I have a question about is if a second smaller livewell/baitwell can be placed in the front of the boat? It's really mainly for covienience for the person fishing up front more than anything. I don't really know if it is necessary, but I noticed a lot of the fishing boats normally have a livewell in the front and back. I was just curious if that was something Tuffy could do? Thanks again. By the way...I noticed you are from Rhinelander. I have a summer cabin on Lake Thompson in Rhinelander. Just wondering if ever fish it? Brian K.

Posts: 99 | I met Steve last weekend, went for a ride in his 1890, very impresive, so I ordered one. Nice ride, FAST, nicely laid out. Swayed me from the tin boat. I talked to alot of people, no one has anyhting bad to say about TUFFY If you are from the MN area, and when you get back and when I get my boat I would be happy to take you for a ride. By the way the guys at Tuffy are great to deal with, actually real people/fisherman on the phone I am very picky when it comes to stuff, it is a great boat Edited by moreyes 8/17/2006 5:23 AM

Posts: 5874 | I've got a new 1890 on the way. I crawled all over this boat this year, and was quite impressed with the new Tuffy. Fit and finish is top notch, layout is great for fishing. After fishing out of this boat fore two days, I was convinced I made the right decision. I'm going back to Tuffy, after 4 years in Lunds. This boat leaps on to plane, is very fast, and handles the rough water way better than a 1900 Lund. You'll be as impressed when you ride in one. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. And thanks for your efforts over there. While not everybody says it, we all think it, and we all appreciate your sacrifice.

Posts: 4 Location: Watertown, WI | Thanks again for the replies. I've been impressed with the photos I've seen of the 1890, but I haven't yet had the chance to actually see one in person. I guess I'll just have to dream about it until I come home for leave in April. Shep, and everyone else that thinks it, thanks for your support. You have no idea how important it is for us to hear that every once in a while. It really helps knowing people back home support us. Steve, thanks again for the info. What motor mfg. does Tuffy offer?? Everyone seems to say their motors are the best, but what motor works best with the 1890?? I'm looking at 200hp motor. Also, and this question is for anyone, what about kicker motors? I've never really done much trolling, but I always read that it is a very succesfull method for catching muskies. Do you really need a kicker motor for that?? I guess I'm looking more for opinions than anything. Thanks again to everyone, Brian K.

Posts: 17 | brian, first of all, as others have stated, THANKS for serving!!!! good choice on the tuffy. i own a lund 2025 pro-v w/225 opti, but 2 of my close friends own tuffy's. one has a 2004 1990 esox deep-v w/200hp hpdi. the other has the new 2060 tiller w/f150 yamaha. i live on lake mille lacs and have fished in both boats alot, in all different kinds of weather. before i bought my lund, i looked at pete maina's last tuffy before he switched to tracker. i talked to the production manager at tuffy and he gave me some good insite on that boat. he also offered to fix up a few dings in the jell coat if i could drop the boat off for a week. the only reason that i went with the lund is, my wife liked the wider gunwales on the lund. i really like the lund, it is the second one that i owned, but for the money the tuffy was the deal of the centry. tuffy's are designed as a fishing boat first and the layout is very fishing friendly. i am not a fan of center rod storage, all manufacturers have went to that design, that is the deepest part of the boat and i think that a large, deep dry storage area is better than the center rod storage. the 2004 1990 esox deep-v has real good dry storage. i can't understand why they changed except to keep up with the jones'. if i could only change 1 thing on my lund, that would be it, return the center rod storage to dry storage. IMHO i think you made a good choice in going with a tuffy, as far a getting a kicker, i wouldn't order the boat without one......................tom fellegy
