Walked into my office to find out this morning to find out my employer of 9 years had laid me off.
Anybody need a salesman?

Actually yes....matters though if you want to move to the Chicago area, and if you sell technically oriented product. If yes to both, send me a resume:

Slamr, thanks, But I have two daughers in high school here in Madison so a move to Chicago would probabley not work at this time. Thanks for the thought though.

What have you sold, and how long have you been selling?

Hi Jeff,

I regret to hear of your situation, it's a bummer for sure. I can relate because I was once surprised with a 3-week notice that my job was being eliminated. Happened the same day that Jerry Garcia died.

I do believe it true that these sorts of life twists force people to explore opportunities they would have otherwise passed on. Sometimes the new opportunities pay off in diamonds and the person is much better off than they could have possibly been had they stayed with thier initial career path. "Good things take time, but great things happen all at once." (A beer to the first person who knows where that line came from.) So you see, it is possible, maybve even likely, that this moment is really the very beginning of a great thing for you.

Ranger- How about the movie Rat Race w/John Cleese- Brecken Meyers- "Good things take time, but great things happen all at once."

Jeff- Hope things spin positive for you. The guy's are right. This could turn out to ba a blessing. Attitude is everything. Good Luck!

Jeff sorry to hear about the job. Jeff Miller started a new topic looking for someone to sell Floating Docks. You should seriously check that out, seems like an interesting job.

Hope this helps some,

Jeff,

Sorry to hear about your hard luck. I'm fishing from the same boat as you. I got laid off (financial analyst)in the summer and between the economy & 9/11, all I've had are nibbles and contract work. I had saved up to buy a boat but that got shot to ****.

Look on the bright side. It gives you more time to fish for awhile![:sun:]

Boy I'm glad that I'm not the only one. I took work as a sub-teacher, so that helps but I can relate to it Jeff. Keep looking it will come and hey give me a call ([email protected]) and we can see about getting together at the show this weekend.

Dave.

The marine economy is not any better, things were very slow up to a few weeks ago. I changed the way I approach my job, but managed to keep employed. Things seem to be getting better, slowly.

Keep the faith, work will be there.[8)] [:)]

Jeff,
I can empathise as I too lost my job just before Christmas. It has been a rough road but nothing I can't handle.Keep plugging away as there are so many resources available. The guys and gals on this board do care and the support is there. Kinda funny coming from people you've never met.At this stage my wife is getting a little nervous but I know something will happen soon.Keep the faith !You have skills to pay bills !Don't forget that you were looking for a job when you found the last one. That's it for the cliches, I promise! Good luck. Steve
