Subject: Blowing Fuses....please help

My trailer is less than 6 months old, yet I keep blowing my fuse to my running lights.

My turn signals work, my break lights work, but my running lights are not working at any time.......

Put in a new fuse, turn on the lights.....POP...

What could or is my problem.

Thanks for your help.

Brake lights & turn signals work off of one circuit and running lights work off another. Look for short in running light system. If you have a meter you can check for a short by checking in different places along system to isolate a problem area.

You may ned to pull your wires out and check for nicks or wear.A nick or waar will cause a short if it contacts the trailer. I went through the same things years ago and I attached fishing line to the wire and pulled it out of the trailer. Sure enough the wire had rubbed bare. I put some electrical tape on the rubbed area and pulled the wire back though with the fishing line, hooked the wires up.... things worked fine.

You definately have a short somewhere. Are all the bulbs in. Seriously, had friend who pulled his whole harness out, only to find that one of the side marker bulbs was missing, and the socket shorted when there wasn't a bulb in it.

No way to tell where the short is with a meter. You may have to pull the harness as was mentioned for a visual inspection. I would first check all points where the harness goes throgh the walls of the trailer. Pull abit out, and look for nicks or rub spots.

I had that happen on my way to Cave Run one night, ended up finishing the trip with my flashers on (which really seemed to amuse a Ky. trooper).

Turned out, when I put in my motor toter, the end of it jambed the trailer light wire that crosses inside my trailer's rear crossmember against the metal, and shorted it out. I had just enough wire to pull it out, clip out the bad spot, and clip the wire back together. I added expanding foam inside the crossmember to keep the wires from moving again.

Not saying that is your problem but could be a place to check. m

definately sounds like a short. I had same problem The wires that were run on the inside of the frame had been rubbed bare. taped them up with a lot of electrical tape and fished back thru the frame and haven't had a problem since. (tip) have a buddy help you you won't believe how long them wires are!!!!!

Running lights will be powered by the brown wires in your trailer harness.
