Well Ive been up in Tomahawk for the past few weeks taking classes for my Fisheries major. So far I have completed two Forestry classes and one Soils class. A-, B, A- respectivly. Now when I asked people about what it was like up here all I heard was complaining....."No free time" "So much work" "So much studying" I realize now that these people were drastically wrong and did not take full advantage of the area we are in.

Fishing is relatively decent up here......although I have not landed a musky, the guys next door have landed quite a few. The brook trout fishing is nothing short of spectacular. I never really fished for brook trout much, but I got to say them little guys put up a good fight on the ultra lite. Got out with Dave Jonesi once so far.....my buddy almost connect with a ski, but it didnt commit all the way to eating...oh well...Thanks for taking us Dave!

There is also wildlife galore up here. My buddy saw 4 bears one day. We have "monster buck" living on the property, I've seen him twice. I think it is a very tall 10 point, but havent had my glasses on both times to say for sure. Saw a grey fox yesterday on my way to the trout stream on the property. It was about 20 feet from me. Today I jumped one of the tamest deer I have seen. Got within about 20 feet of her as well.

I cant get my pictures to be the right size....not sure why....I can resize them to where I can hardly tell what it is, and it still wont work......Maybe I need a class in photo resizing!

Mike

Good for you Mike. You seem to understand what's important in life. That puts you way ahead of where I was at your age. Keep those good grades coming.

College was the best years of my life. I had my boat down with me, parked it in the empty lot next to min, yep, I lived in a trailer. Nice one too for a trailer that is. I could be fishing at anytime in ten minutes. I think I killed too meny brain cells, probably the only drawback to my college days.

Enjoy your time in school. It is such a short time in one's life.

Good to hear you are having a good time. I loved my time at Treehaven in 1995, while others despised the classes during summertime. I took my boat up with me(14' with 9.9 was my musky rig at the time) and fished every night after homework which didn't take long. I figured everythign out, and it was cheaper staying at treehaven, doing the fishing I did, than staying at a resort. Heck the meals were even included, mystery meat sandwiches and all!! Don't forget about a few of the smaller Musky lakes in the area near camp. Have fun on that plant test. You should ace the aquatics portion, no doubt!!
