Location: Madison, WI | Could use some help, I'm staying on the chain with some friends in late august, we are renting a boat that can only stay on the chain. Any familar with this area? Is there a fishable population of muskies? From the pictures i've seen it looks like a gin clear lake with some sunken island and gradual dropoffs. Thanks for any help, we'll be staying on taylor lake which is on the east side of the chain.
Here's a pretty neat picture of the lake. Shows most of the contour.

Location: Stevens Point, WI | There are a very small number of older large Tigers that were stocked 15 years ago, but that's about it. Though I have been hearing rumors of small fish being caught once in awhile. The lakes are gin clear and some such as Rainbow, Round have very sharp breaks that go deeper than 100' in places. Bass fishing is good, same with pike. The place can be a complete zoo with boat traffic too. For eats and drinks you can't go wrong with the Harbor Bar on K. Maybe you can sneak 30 miles west and fish the WI River with me. |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | Walleyes are really tough to impossible to find, very small numbers. From what I hear your best shot is in the evenings and after dark on the steep breaks. For bass and pike I would try smaller lakes like Dake, Minor, Otter especially during the day. It would be great if they could get the muskies going in there again with the huge amount of forage including ciscoes.
