Anyone who has a BoBs jack plate please take note. You only have one bolt holding you motor on. I know you think I'm crazy but its true. if you own a bobs with the hydro on the jack plate and not in the boat the only bolt that keeps the motor from falling off is the bolt that attaches the mounting plate to the hydro piston. there is no fail safe to keep the motor from rising up and out when that bolt fails. ask me how I know. and It almost happened to someone else at the same tournament I was at but he got lucky and noticed the motor sounding funny and shut down before it got away from him... It all happened in a split second. one minute I'm running along at about 20mph and the next the boat was filling up with water from the prop pushing it there and then nothing but the sound of the warning buzzer.. I look back and nothing was there... I didn't know what to think. I know some of you are laughing... hell so did I at first. but then I thought how luck I am that it didn't jump up and take my head off.. so that is why I am spreading the word.. call or write bobs and try to find out why they didn't put a fail safe on that jack plate and find out what you can do before its to late..... good luck...... any one want to buy a slightly used 225hpdi... comes with a free 10" bobs hydro jack plate. big john

yeah, that's what I thought, too. Apparently - from subsequent threads on that board - Bob sold out the business and this new design carries his name and not his craftsmanship. I guess the guy got lucky to get back to land OK. m
