Posts: 1764 Location: Ogden, Ut | Much thanks to my fishing partners and friends here at Mfirst for taking such a keen interest in getting me my first pure-strain muskie. The grand event came to a close at 11:45 last night after a full day of...well nothing. After attacking the Pond late morning until about 5:30 w/o seeing, much less sticking a fish, we collectively cried 'uncle' and congregated around the barbeque grill for some gourmet burgers (truly good burgers Tawni) and make a plan for after dark. The 'plan' called for hitting selected areas w/ a minimum of bait changes and beat them to submission! IaJustin scored first w/ a nice 44 3/4" specimen off the rocks (a late game alteration by our supremely confident guide - well that and the fact that there were 7 boats working the weeds we had intended to go). The confidence and enthusiasm tanks were thusly refilled! More casting, more casting, more casting, hey, this fishing is kinda fun... We pounded the rocks until we were convinced that the fish were no longer interested in our offerings, then back to the weeds we had originally intended to fish. After skillfully dodging a few walleye boats, and a few muskie boats SJ set us up on a breakline drift that ultimately paid off big. With about 15 minutes left to fish in my schedule, my XX bucktail got a bit lighter about half way back to the boat. I set the hook on what became my first non-hybrid muskie and after a battle that was probably quite short, but seemed like a couple hours, SJ dove onto a 13" Jake and impaled his knee as he netted my fish. We then had our celebratory string cheese and called it a night. 44 1/2 " and also my new personal best. I hope the other cameras in the boat came up w/ some good pics too. Thanks much to my boat partners and supporting cast...SJ, Justin, Tawni, PK and Baldy. Thanks also for the support and encouragement to my 'phone tree' - you know who you are. S. Posts: 2865 Location: Brookfield, WI | Way to go Sorno. That's the way to write it up, too. Fun story. You guys look a little hot, and you don't look quite as a "mature" in that picture. I think MN is agreeing with you. Glad you guys are having a good time. Did you unhook and release Jonesi? Kevin Eagle draws nigh.

Posts: 827 Location: Minneapolis,Minnesota | Great fish Sorno...the sound of Sorno's celebration scream in the darkness is what it's all about. Glad I could be there with the celebratory string cheese. SJ came off the water sunburned and bloody and they say the life of a guide ain't hard work. Top notch job last night buddy. Very cool release shot Justin, didn't see that one last night. Edited by Phish Killer 7/30/2006 6:21 PM

Posts: 2378 | She's a beaut, Clark! Glad I was there to hear the screams man. First thing uttered when we heard the screams, "I hope Sorno got it." What a day. The PMA was always in full force in the blue Ranger this weekend. Awesome work guys. Glad to see the two guys that drove the furthest were able to stick fish. I think we have a new Muskie Mojo cover girl... Edited by BALDY 7/30/2006 2:49 PM

Posts: 2089 | And a good time was had by all!!!Great to spend some time in the tub with a couple of great guys and super gal, Tawni.Yes, there were 4 people in the blue tub when these fish were boated.Organzed chaos.Going to have to do something about that superman Jake though.Seems I've bled an inordinate amount this season.Worth it .Glad to have Pk and the Bald Man right there too."Get off my spot you Pirate!!!!!"Pk comes through in the clutch with the string cheese.Food of the Gods. This "stupid fish" has brought me into contact with people I will have in my life til I die.Really good people. For a poor fishing guide with a nice boat and a lot of tackle, I must be the richest man in the world.Congrats again Sorno, YOU are the man!
