Any suggestions for Muskie in Polk County? I'm new to the area (and muskie fishing for that matter) and would love some guidance. Tried Bone, Deer, Wapo, but no results and trying to narrow it down. Maybe I need to hire a guide?

I've hear Apple River in and around Amery can be good.

I second Blake, nice water. Bone will do the job, give it it's due. Round used to have some muskies, check it out. I used to fish the Apple some, also good water. Deer IS a good body of water, too.

There are seven bodies of water in Polk that people fish for muskies. Deer and Bone are hit the hardest. All the above mentioned lakes can be hot at times. Not real sure how Big Round is doing lately. Blake is small, and easy to fish.

I haven't heard too much to help you out, but from my experiences this year, I'd fish off deeper weedlines and points on Deer or Bone. I haven't moved much up shallow. Trolling is always a good option (legal in Polk Co.), but I don't have the equipment to do it.

I have fished on Bone and Deer a lot....both are excellant lakes. I have had more success on Deer over the years. I haven't fished it but I have heard good things about the Apple river, near Amery as previously mentioned.

Bone has a lot of classic mid lake structure , try fishing jigs on these steep breaks...very effective method on this lake. When the fish are moving on either one of these lakes you will contact a lot of fish.

Other lakes in the area to try are Cedar lake (Keep it shallow) Check the cribs and the breaks by the inlet and outlet.
The Apple early as it weed up a lot as the season progresses.
Deer is good but the fish see a lot of baits - Do something a bit different and cast something Perch.
Big Moon has some nice fish and is not on everyones radar.
