Posts: 27 Location: Central, IA | Maybe this has been discussed before but I couldnt find anything in the forums... Has anyone purchased small muskies and kept them in an aquarium? Is this legal (harboring a sub-legal musky that you purchased)? Any tips or concerns one would need to worry about keeping them? Thanks, Fish

Posts: 194 | I don't want to give out wrong info. All I can offer is stuff I heard about this as it relates to WI. Best advice I can give is to contact your local DNR office and ask them about the legalities. I'm pretty sure, in WI, that you would be OK as long as you can prove you purchased the fish from a legal source with a receipt or something. But I'd look into it first with DNR. As for getting fish, you'll probably have to get in touch with a private fish farm. How big is your tank? The day will come when your fish outgrows the tank, and you'll want to let the fish go into a lake or river. That will also require some kind of permit or permission from DNR. I'd include those type of questions when you contact your DNR officials.

Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | It's pretty cool having them in a tank, but to be honest with you spots are boring as hell. Get tigers. They look cooler and the eat all the time. Its 15 bucks a fish (right now they are 4 to 6 inches), minimum order of 50 bucks and 70 dollars C.O.D. for shipping. I am placing an order for tigers early next week. You can just call or email them a few days before you want them shipped and they will be at your door the next day. Thanks for posting the link slammer. And that is sweet Treats! Thanks for the pics! Thanks for the info everyone. Ill post some pics when I get it all set up.
