Have an idea that the fish may be holding up real close to the base of the dam on a river here as the water is warm + when the gates are opened the cooler water is released... make sense? Someone had a post on where the fish might have gone to in the river he was fishing that got me thinking for once. I saw a nice 1 Monday in shallow water in a creek mouth but it spooked fast. I can't get close enough to the dam base to cast it as the Game Dept. will ream you a new one if caught... the water is for the most part not too deep + very little shade this time of year. Any ideas besides night fishing, etc.?

Sponge, have you thought about trying corn and dough balls?
From what I have heard rubber lipped trout don't care about cold fronts or sunshine or time of day!

Rik-

What about anywhere there is a current break?

If they won't let you get close to the wing dams how about the back sides of down timber or any points in the area. I'd stay towards the deeper water. The current breaks should give them slack water to lay in and if you can find some down timber that'll give them shade too.

OK Steve-that''s it!!!LOL.... actually "little Sponge" did latch onto "KING KARP", the legendary behemoth of the town duck ponds 3 days ago; hooked it on a french fry! Took his Zebco 202 combo....I was holding the rod + it almost tore it out of my hand, no joke. I handed the rod to him but the fish zoomed all around the pond + the hook ended up pulling loose. By then a crowd had gathered to console little Sponge but to no avail. Couldn''t reel; just had to let it swim around. The fish is at least 20lb. plus + has a dark tail so it is easy to identify. The trick is to throw pieces of food to get them stirred up then throw them a fry w/ hook attached. First time I tried it + it worked! And expect a surprise in the mail soon!
Theeds, when it gets cooler the fish spread out but the water is blazing now + the coolest water is at the dam base. We''ve tried the few trees that are in the water but they won''t budge if they are there. I''ll have to go at night I guess ''til fall gets here. Wife is going to the airport Saturday so you too can expect something in the mail sometime next week!

You are one great guy Sponge. Here I only expected a plain old T-shirt and the next thing you tell me your sending your wife to me from the airport. What is this win the T-shirt and the model comes with it????

What a country!!!!

Don't get me wrong here Sponge, I'm not complaining in any way, shape or form. I just wish you would've let me know a little sooner. I could've used the extra time to explain to my wife. I guess I'll just have to figure something out.

Let's see, I always sleep with one leg hanging out from under the covers. (You guess which one)and now I'm gonna have to figure out how to do that with my wife on one side and yours on the other....[][] [] [] []

LOL!! Should have been more specific! There is a Mall she is going to + will secure the major prize award for you. I RARELY hit the city as it is a nightmare + the one next to the airport is a killer. She won't let me out of her sight as she is afraid something might happen to me although I am allowed a few trips per year to where ever. Lucky to have one like that in this day + time... kinda like a modern day Florence Nightingale! Daily she nurses me back from the depths of stupidity to reality. Time to go sling mail dude![:sun:]
