Didn't somebody on the board really like these? I wondered because I found one I thought I had set aside for somebody quite a while ago. Anybody remember who this was?

Yep, thanks for thinkin' of me.

I used the big plum colored Risto to troll for pike. Using 17# mono and a cast and a hahlf behind the boat, it slow trolled at, I guessing, 12'. Which put it 2' above the thermo. That color outfished every other color by 10X, all summer long. I'm guessing that the reason was there's just a few rainbow trout left, in that lake where I used to live, the DNR stopped stocking the trout like 10 years ago. Color-wise, it got to be a joke, only the plum color.

As you may be aware, Rapala don't sell those any more. I think they stopped like 6 years ago. I have around 20 or so, mostly the big ones. I have one I rigged for muskies, the silver/blue dude (bluegill), I use when I need to throw 1) early season and 2) in cold front conditions. I removed the front hook and replaced the rear with a 3X short shank. That Beeeetch rocks down and you have no choice but to go into an 8 'cause she's deep and don't want to come up. One of the few baits where a buddy thoughtlessly p[ulled it up ASAP and the 'ski jumped out of the water, boatside, for one last bite. Friggin boatside leap to get the bait, he sheet his pants, we both got wet, and I suggested, again, he pay attention and do his 8's.

I've caught big bass and eyes on the same bait. Look for them in flea markets, that's the only place I see them for sale now. Maybe out-of-the-way hardware stores. If you see one, get it. My only concern is that the wire eye is held in the plastic bill and I worry that a big fish will break it. (But I take exatra care using the bait, lot's of drag play, so far, no probs.)

Again, thanks for thinkin' of me.

Hey Ranger, thanks for the tip, I bought a lot of these when they were in KMart's bargain bin, guess it was about 6 years ago.

One thing the boys in Ohio who troll Sisson brand bass crank baits for muskies do, using a high speed drill, drill a couple small holes in the face of the bait down intersecting the lip and install small stainless wood screws with a touch of epoxy. A guy at Leesville lake showed me his work, it does make the bait look a little Frankenstein-ish, but apparently doesn't affect the action much.

I saw a Bagley in a guy's boat on Pewaukee that was chomped in half, guess there's not much you can do about that! m
