| My daughters just pointed out that our Leesville trip will be under a full moon.
Last week, we tried trolling a bit at night, with no success at all, but it might just be different under a full moon.
I'm thinking that trolling some crank baits that stay in the top 5 feet should work well.
What have you guys seen work? If it matters, Leesville is on the clear side most of the time, but not super-clear. This week is has been a bit more stained due to all the recent rain.

| Depends on the clarity.
I've never had luck fishing with a clear night full moon, but that's me.
Some have said that a fish looking up at a big full moon is just like looking into the sun.
Only the fish know. The rest is all speculation.

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | I have did well at night trolling under all conditions. The full moon and clear skys will make fishing slower from my experiances. Cloud cover and wind will increase your chances during the full moon.
Muskies have no problem feeding at night. Dark nights have produced better for me than the bright nights.
Don't get caught up fishing one depth. Watch your electronics and fish where the fish are or where the bait is. I try to run my baits exactly where the fish are. Strike zones seem to be smaller at night and the closer your can get your baits to the fish the better.
Find out what the muskies are eating and try to the match lure size to what they are used to, then change baits until you find out what they want.
Color is not that important but I like to run darker baits when fishing close to the top and lighter baits when I fish close to the bottom. |
