| I thought I'd take an informal poll of the MF users who plan on fishing the Muskies Inc. Chapter Challunge. It's going to be held on Mille Lacs, and based out of McQuoid's resort from August 9th-11th. So who's going? State your name and/or Chapter number if you like. Thanks. | When are the guys that plan this event going to recognize most members are not retired and therefore can only fish on weekends or use vacation time. Also most of us are already committed to some big trips and therefore don't have enough PTO left to go to the challunge. I would be there if this was a weekend event. | |||

| The fargo-Moorhead Chapter won last year's event, thus we are the ones who planned this year's. I can understand what the previous poster is stating about the fishing dates, but the Muskies Inc. By-Laws state that this event is to be held Wednesday through Friday. I haven't actually seen the wording, but I know they even have something in there about how many hours per day you can be fishing. We also have to have a permit for this event due to the number of boats involved, and I believe there is a regulation involved with that too. I think one of those guidelines stated we had to quit fishing at sundown, or something like that. We're checking into it, as we're trying to arrange an evening of fishing during the event. Not to brag, but the F-M Chapter has won this event three of the past four years, and have tried to alter the dates a bit. Whatever we do, there is always going to be some unhappy people. We wanted it later in the year, and people complained that their kids couldn't attend because of school. We tried it earlier a year or two ago, and held it in July. Some people complained about that. I'm sorry to hear the previous poster can not make it, and i'm sure there are others like him that are in the same boat.(So to speak). I believe this would be the case no matter what date was chosen though. One of the guys from our Chapter did a ton of work to organize this event the last three years we've won it, and he himslf could not make it last year due to another trip he had already planned. It happens. I'm lucky to be able to make it this year, although I don't have a partner lined up yet. Hopefully someone needs a guy to be their net man, or I'll be fishing off the dock at McQuoid's. Later. | |||

| The North Metro Chapter has 2 full teams. It should be a great tounament. I am looking forward to fishing one of Minnesota's finest bodies of water. I think that the Fargo / Moorhead team is definitly ready for some competition. What is it going to take to win the bucket this year? How many fish and what will the largest be? Steve | |||

| Unless people are holding off on signing up until right before the Challunge, it's looking like a fairly small turnout. Good to see North Metro and Twin Cities will be well represented. It looks like the fishing hours will be as follows: Wednesday 6am to 9pm. Thursday 6am to 6pm, with a meal provided by the F-M Chapter and some time to play a little Texas Hold Em' afterwards. Friday 6am to 1pm. Subject to weather conditions, these should be the hours. We'll put the health of the fish first, so if it's hot, these hours will be adjusted accordingly. Hope to see a lot of you there. | |||

| Sounds like someone should make a motion to change the bylaws to allow the host chapter to select optimal dates (that could be weekends) I will make the bold statement that NM and TC chapters could have at least double the number of teams if this was on a weekend. Those people will probably be on the pond fishing that weekend anyway. | |||

| From what I hear, there is a PMTT event scheduled for that week too, although I hear the field will be limited. There are two Board meetings yearly, and if anyone wants to make a motion to change anything, that's the time to do it. | |||

| Most resorts run sat. - sat. It's pretty hard to have a sat -sun tournament. The challunge was set up to allow a full week of fishing for those that are able to attend. As stated, you can't please eveyone. I used to attend when it was in the fall, but teachers complained they couldn't go. Now I can't go because my job is to busy in the summer, and most of the teachers that were complaining have never attended. Good luck to the other teams taking on FM, you'll need it! JS | |||

| I should clarify, it's hard to have a sat. -sun. tournament and be able to pre-fish when resorts run sat.-sat. | |||

| Brainerd Lakes Chapter will be there with a couple teams. Should be a good ime and some nice fish put in the boat. The fish have been very active the past week. Derek "Duck" Johnson Musky nut Guide Service www.muskynuyguides.com | |||

Posts: 5874 | What does a resort schedule have to do with a tourney on Mille Lacs? It's not like this is LOTW, or AML. Sorry. I noticed this was the Chapter Challunge, so it can, and has been held on LOTW. Edited by Shep 7/26/2006 10:42 AM | ||
