Subject: MUSKIE STRIKES TROLLING MOTOR !!!

Hey Guys,

Just got back from a long weekend up on the BIG POND - LOTW- Sabaskong bay area
Had probally the best trip for weather ever, flat calm for 3 days, little wind.
All the fish are on main lake weeds, find Cabbage on main islands, you will find BIG muskies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I have never seen so many big fish as I did on this trip,
I caught a 49.9999, Just hair shy, also a 48.5, 37, 31, and had on about another 8 that I simply lost because fish shook the hooks out, on top water.
My other buddies with WFO outdoors Pro-staff caught 42, 42, , 42, 40, 40, 40 37,
The water is low also and some spots the weeds are not really there.

GET THIS, My buddy Mike Laird of WFO OUTDOORS was in his Ranger 620 fishing a streach of shoreline, he just let off on his trolling motOr, a second later, WHAM!!! a big muskie smoked his trolling moter blades, he quick looked down and saw the BIG muskie, and pulled up his moter and saw perfect teeth marks on the housing of the trolling motor, pretty COOL!!!!!! We decided we are buying the biggest bucktails we can find after this happend,
This is no B. S.

Buchtails did good, but topwater was best, Lost another one that was about 50", that straightend out 2 trebels that were 5/0 hooks, unbeleivable!
The Doc, Nimmer Swimmers- Wolly Pog, was on fire!!!!!! also, top raider & pace makers all did good
Water temps are heating up, started weekend at 68 left at 73 degrees

Good luck to all we are heading up the end of July, labor day and Oct trolling, I need to catch a 53 "or so incher I raised,

Good luck

Was that an Auto-Pilot trolling motor?

I had a big Muskie try eat my Auto-Pilot once. Scared the heck out me too. Also had several Muskies follow it for a long ways, but wouldn't even look at a lure. Fish are goofy sometimes.

Yes they do occaisionally chomp on trolling motors up there as well as beavers. Have not heard of any moose or bears getting the bite lately though......

If anyone wants to try the hot bait, it was a Minnekota 101 lb thrust. I was putzing along at a setting of 20 and let off the gas for a second. The big girl smoked her on the pause and gave me the fin as she swam away. Definitely a 4 foot fish or better. Another cool twist was that I had a 40 inch class fish plowing my pacemaker back to the boat at the same time.

I'm thinking of experimenting with some custom paint jobs and rigging up some hooks. Anyone know how I can make it through-wire construction?

Trolling motor blades are for sissy muskies. Last summer on Crab lake over 40' of water moving slowly to a new spot I heard a mettalic tick behind the boat.HMMMMMMMMMM! what the hell was that? I look at the locator and see a line coming up and going back down off a small "spire" bar. I raise the motor and a a nice bite size chunk is gone from the main propeller.
Now Crab lake is famous for its shallow rock barsso retelling the sory up here has brought my veracity into question more than once; however thats the way it went down .
I had heard of it happening ,but in more than fifty years of muskie fishing never experienced it . I kept the propeller to show people at my home bar/saloon ,but mostly just get skeptical looks.
