Posts: 255 | I am looking to fish a lake with good numbers of musky near LCO in Hayward WI. I am not looking for a big fish lake just higher action for my friend. He is stayin on LCO but, action is few and far between there. Prefer a lake within a 20-30 minute drive from LCO. Looking to fish it this weekend. Thanks, Tom

I'd give Callahan, Spider, or Moose a try. They are good numbers lakes. J. Menard

Location: The Yahara Chain | I would fish Lost Land and Teal....they are connected. Good numbers and the fish are bigger than the lakes mentioned above. Plus you have the bonus of no recreation traffic on these lakes.

Posts: 2361 | I agree with Bytor, Lost Land and Teal, and my preference would be Teal. Fish all the center bars, bars connected to shore, and all the points to start with. Easy to work and classic structure fishing. Weeds are also good into about 3 1/2 feet depth. There are a number of hard bars in this lake, some not much more than a gravel hump, yet all good structure holds musky and usually multiple fish. There is also an after dark bite on this lake that can be very good. Small non descript points and narrows near the islands also hold fish. Lots of 30-35 inchers. Posts: 734 Location: Watertown, MN | Being on LCO, I would fish Sand lake, good number and some quality fish, also Big Siss, and any of the above lake. Good try Whitefish trolling open water towards dusk, connected to LCO has some big fish, keep the baits up when trolling Good luck Troyz

I agree w/ Troy. Sand would be the best place to go from LCO. Lost Land and Teal are fun places to fish. I especially like fishing Teal's structure. I don't think about these lakes as action lakes but there are numbers available. This weekend might be a bit busy on LL/Teal. There is an MI event (Kleeba Chapter Challunge) going on and it's also Musky Fest weekend. Just a heads up. Jono

Posts: 23 Location: Oak Lawn, IL. | I'd also add Ghost Lake to the list for good numbers lakes. It's a small lake with only a couple of resorts on it so it doesn't get much pressure and the shoreline is largely undeveloped. If you head down that way make sure and stop at Boulder Lodge for a burger and a beer on your way out. Very cool old log lodge to check out while your burgers cooking. Good luck!

Posts: 476 Location: WI | I've stayed at Boulder Lodge on Ghost Lake for about 7 years. It is a good lake with action coming from mainly low 30 inch fish. The resort is a great one too. Another couple of suggestions would be Day Lake near Clam Lake (might have an chance to see an Elk on the way too). Look into Tiger Cat Flowage as well, I haven't fished it, but heard that it has some good action from smaller muskies. GotOne

Location: The Yahara Chain | Callahan, Ghost, Tiger Cat Flowage are all stunted fisheries....there are a lot of fish in these lakes but it is rare to catch anything bigger than 32". If it doesn't bother you that they are all little go ahead and fish one of those...you will get "action". I have heard similar things about Day and Spider but I don't have any first hand expierience on those waters. Sissibagama would be a nice option, also....some decent fish in there. I personnally would hit Lost Land/ Teal or Siss.... having a lot of mid 20" fish follow isn't my cup of tea.

Posts: 186 Location: Kaukauna, Wisconsin | LL/Teal are really nice and no recreational traffic as someone has already mentioned. Day near Clam Lake is good too, everytime we go there we always see fish.

ALL of the above pick one, I had a summer home on spider lake for 12 years back in the 70's and not a full time muskie fisher at that time averaged 35 muskies a summer 30" to 40" not bad for just fishing for what's biting. (GATAGOFGR (8) Marv.

Posts: 20248 Location: oswego, il | Looks like all the action lakes are mentioned here. I have fished teal, you will like the lake alot. Lost land, teal and Ghost are "quiet lakes" 10mph is the "rule". it's broken with regularity but the only pleasureboaters are the occasional pontoon. No skiing, no jetskis. I doubt day or moose has them either too many hazards. Can't go wrong with back o Beyond resort on teal lake. Edited by ToddM 6/24/2006 9:31 PM
