Was wondering if any one out there fishes Moose and how they do. Had a great day their in Mid-June (7 fish 4 legals 2 over 40)with an approaching storm. Was wondering if it was just timing (weather related)or does this water produce consistantly. Couldn't find many muskie guys around lake or at resorts.I know Larry Ramsell does well there but how about others.

I dont fish it real often, but I try to get there as much as I can. For me its been a great topwater lake. A day like you had is not all that unusual. I have never seen one much over fifty on the lake but the could be just me. I have seen a lot of forty inch, low and high end, fish on that lake. It has been almost two years since I have been there, but will more than likely hit this September again. For some reason when the weather has been right, and is right in that month I do very well on Moose.

Funny you mention topwaters 4 of my fish came on a custom Orange TopRaider. We also had 6 other blow ups on that TopRaider. Our other fish came on my Rattlin'Shad and Deucetail out of wood.
As southerners from Kentucky we were pulled to the timber on Moose and it paid off. Just curious, what areas of Moose do you like best. We camped there through those storms that hit Siren but still had a great time, nice people, nice area and loved the muskie action. My 7 year old son could be heard all over the lake screaming and cheering "Muskies are Awesome" lots of high 5's TOO. We love northern Wisconsin in June, don't know anything about fishing through the ice!!!!!

Tony ,you must be mistaken . There are no musky in (strike name of lake), Mabey they were suckers. No seriously I am glad you had a blast in the great northwoods and to show your appreciation would you mind sending some heat our way , say in February or so?

Oh yeah. One other thing, with bucktail, for some strange reason we always had our best luck with white blades and dark purple tails. Mid-range size bucks, about seven inch variety. Colorado blades too.

Sorry didnt read your reply. June is a great time to hit the lake, and at that time of the year wood is magic at times. I dont have a favorite part of the lake. With most lakes I love being anywhere on them at anytime as long as I am fishing. There is one little neck down are though that has some wood, and stumps on the east side of the lake that does give me greater pause than most areas. Gotta go boat needs my attention.

Tony,
I fish Moose some, but being fairly new to Musky fishing, am still trying to learn it. My great Grandparents lived on the lake on Pine Point, but that was before I was around. I have seen some good fish up the Little Moose River but nothing real big. I am kind of curious as to the types of areas that you were getting your bigger fish out of? Were you fishing shore line wood or deeper wood? E- mail me if you would like.
