TOUGH CONDITIONS PREVAIL AT WMT’S OPENER

The Wisconsin Muskie Tour opened the 2006 season on Lake Monona is Madison on Saturday, May 13th with some of the toughest conditions to ever be thrown at the competitors. The tournament paid down five places:

1st place: Phil Schweik and Pete Hilman, both of Mosinee
2nd place: Dawson Usack, Rhinelander and Don Sandness, Madison
3rd place: Scott Lewandowski, Athens and Darwin Ligman, Stevens Point
4th place: Kevin Mahlberg, Oconomowoc and Joel Michel, Racine
5th place: George Kingsland, Pardeeville and Patrick Kingsland, Endeavor

PARISE AND ETZEL WIN WMT’S WAUBESA QUALIFIER

On Sunday, May 14th, the Wisconsin Muskie Tour hosted the second qualifier of the year on Lake Waubesa in Madison, where the weather played a major role in the location of muskies and the proper presentation for making contact with an active fish. The foul weather allowed only 7 muskies to succumb to the competitor’s offerings.

The tournament paid down five places:

1st place: Paul Parise and Mike Etzel, both of Ladysmith
2nd place: Ivan Stross, Oak Creek and Jeff Piazza, Lake Tomahawk
3rd place: Scott Kuharske, Milwaukee and Joe Perry, Oregon, OH

WTG's to Tuffdaddy and Kevin. Schweik and Hilman win again. If there was a World Musky Ranking, I suspect these guys would be on top. And they may not even have company in the top five. Just leave the next 4 spaces blank, and resume at #6! hehehe

Kudo's also to Justin Gaiche for a good finish on Sunday.

Definitely tough out there! Congrats to the winners and others who got fish in the net, .we had a couple under the 34" limit in the boat saturday...and one at the 34" mark try to eat a dawg 2 x on Sunday...Pretty much all the "locals" including me got our butts handed to us on a silver platter!

So the winning team on Monona...what lures did you throw to get those fish to eat...so many stories....

I wont tell, but you can bet I was throwing something close all day Sunday! :-)...secret weapons...secret weapons! I watched them catch their first fish on Saturday. Phil didn't even get to make a cast before Pete hooked his. I got half a cast in before I said, "Oh Jesus...here they go again." Secret weapon: A bucket full of steam and a dozen rose eggs, mix em up with a barrel of goldfish legs, hang them up to dry in the midnight sun and then you fry them until their done. -Louis Prima-
