Posts: 5874 | Great coverage, Lambeau! This is without a doubt, the best coverage ever for a muskie tourney! This was right up there with the outstanding Walleye Interactive Leaderboard. What's next, OutdoorFirst? On the water live streaming video? Congrats to our own Reef Hawg on a great tourney. Too bad on that short one, but it was awesome Lambeau was there to get it on film!

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | Great coverage Mike, though I wish it would have been a bigger fish that you had gotten riled up ahead of us, rather than the shorty...LOL. Uncanny how the media coverage guys can always be around the fish when they are caught in tourneys. Nice rig too, Mike. I am sure it would have been more fun heading north accross Pete in that than it was in mine. Luckily we were able to make up several lost places lost to faster boats at takeoff when we got up into the 'hairy' section of the flowage. A quick correction though, as it was the Consilidated Musky Club Inc. that received the donation from the PMTT and not the 12 Apostles. We thank the PMTT for the $1,000.00 to put towards our stocking fund. It sure helps cement their acceptance into a community when they make a commitment to help protect/sustain the fishery they hold their event on. Another fellow that we sat next to at dinner(and I will put his name here later as it escapes me right now) from the twin cities gave us $500.00 to the same cause. I nearly fell off the dock when he came over and announced that to us. That is another 150 fingerlings planted this fall, that we would not have been able to purchase. Thanks!!!! Congrats to the winning team for sticking to a game plan that is now the craziest move I have ever seen. It was tough enough staying alive down where they were, I couldn't have imagined trying to fish it. Pretty angry background in the picture of that fish they caught the first day! Wonder if they had some Gordon Lightfoot in the 'box'.... Hopefully the fellas that took the skeg, and a portion of the gell coat(or more) off their 621 when cruising up through/over the rock pile we were fishing are ok. Never like to see extensive damage to a rig like that... Fun weekend even though we needed to dig out the tipups to effectively fish. Wow, lots of Rangers. I'd say close to 80 out of 112 easily. My partner pointed that out and mentioned... "It is official, we have the $hittiest boat in the tournament."

Posts: 91 Location: Wausau | Jason, With sponsors like Metalica and Pabst Blue Ribbon you at least have great music and tasty warming fluid after them cold days of fishing, even if you don't have the best boat on the water. Crongratulations on the great 3rd place finish and to all of the others who placed and caught fish on the meanest lady in Nekoosa.

Posts: 1168 | Congrats to those who caught fish and to everyone that survived!! That is really good news that that kind of money has been kicked in to stocking projects for Petenwell. Hopefully this event raised awareness as to the potential that some of the water here in Wisconsin does hold! Maybe someday in my lifetime we will once again have big fish in the badger state!! I laughed at Reef Hawg's comment that Don made...I can hear him saying that in only a way he can. Good job guys on your finish and showing that it doesn't take a 40k boat to find fish!! -Bob

J I believe it was Jerome Morris from the twin cities chapter that made the donation, he is one heck of a guy, he was nice enough to have a cold one for me on sat after we got off the water. Thanks for the Donation Jerome, and I hope the Eagle will reward you for your support. Jason, as Treats would say you would swear the give Rangers away, I have never seen a boat catch fish, but have seen alot of good sticks catch fish. Thanks Pete folks, we had great time and hope the fishery continues to improve. Troyz

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | It was Jerome Morris, and thank you for pointing that out. If you are out there Jerome, THANKS again!!! You are welcome in my boat anytime, not that you'd want to fish out of it, or come back to this slime hole again....

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | Will charge admission for that ride if I have to do it again. Sme things loosened up on the way accross the first morning...... like my partners kidneys.. I'm better served in 4-5'ers, but they are stumps, not waves.

Posts: 4080 Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Wow, what a tough bite. You guy's that put fish in the boat this weekend have given me a real case of HUMILITY ! Some realy good sticks out there in pretty crapy conditions. 35hrs. on this lake and only a 6lb. bass cought on a weagle!! I'll be back to prove to myself that I can catch a stubborn Pettenwell 40+ inch fish. My hat's off to the great people in the Wis. Rapids area. Don and Jason , it's a pleasure to donate to you'r club, keep letting others know you'r need to stock you'r INTERESTING lake with this fish we all love to hunt. Trolling dark colored bulldawgs in DARK colored water in 3 and 4 ft. rollers..... Whats up with that!!! Great job guys, Later Jerome

Posts: 101 Location: Liberty, IN (OKI Tri-State) | I have to agree Jerome, those folks in, and around the Wisconsin Rapids area were the kind of folks you just plain love to visit with. What a great area! And I would also be quick to return to the 'Pete' for another shot at her big Musky. You sure can't hold the sysytem or town responsible for an historic low pressure reading for May and the absolutely freaky Wx conditions we had to face. One of the best PMTT's I have ever attended in my 6 years ... if you don't count the fishing part ! Very well hosted, felt welcomed the entire time, loved the way they wanted to work together with us ... except that parking fiasco Sunday; but other than that... VERY GOOD STUFF!! Thanks to you personaly sir for the extra donation to these outstanding folks for use in future stockings of muskellunge into these 'very interesting' waters. Don Kempen, Jason Schillinger, Todd Forcier and a whole host of others have been doing what it takes to put fish here, keep fish here, protect the fish here and insure a 'world class' future here for those same fish ... for more than 20 years now. The story sort of reminds a bit of 'Tonka and a few other Metro area waters ... not to mention the entire State of Minnesota Jerome and your donation to help enhance this neighboring States waters shows more by action than any words could ever convey! Thanks again Jerome from all of us in the North American Musky Community, Muskies, Inc. and the PMTT ... you are a great ambassador for us all. My hat is off to you! If we are at the same venue later this season, or anytime for that matter, would you please stop by and let me make your acquaintance, it would be my pleasure to meet you. Thanks again as well to the Wisconsin Rapids Area C&VB, Hotel Mead, The Lure Bar & Grill in Barnum Bay and a special thanks for the hot coffee, donuts and hot lunch Tom, you guys sure made a lot of new friends Mike ... a.k.a lambeau, your coverage and everything that you folks are doing over here at MuskiesFIRST is best ... honestly. What a great job of getting it out there first ... fast ... factually. I am looking forward to visiting with you again soon. Bob Osborne
