Once a fish eats a LowRider(small size) I can't seem to ever get the rear blade to turn again. I've made sure the wire is straight, I've bent the prop blade every direction. Any tips to get the prop spinning again? Thanks.

Are you talking the old style (with the bend) or the new style (straight)?

I pretty much only use the old style myself. Make sure the bend isn't rubbing against the tail section. Also check the rivets and make sure they're still secure in the bait.

Other then that it's tough to say unless I had it in my hands.

After a few fish I have found it best to re-wire the bait. You may be able to tune it but rebuilding is best!

If you want to send it to me I'll fix it up.

Any tips for rebuilding?  I have 2 (old style) that have both been plenty chewed to the point I worry about the wire's integrity.  Don't want to leave hooks in a fish.

A quality wire bender helps. You could try using a vice and screw (been there done that). It's real easy after that. Pick up some ss wire blanks. Make a loop at one end, thread on all your components from the old bait and loop the back end. You can try the straight wire (new style) but I still prefer the bend (old style).

Hope this helps. The wire bender makes it easy. I'll buy old, out of tune low riders. I would also be willing to re-wire them if anybody wants to cover the wire and shipping both ways.

Dave, if you haven't fixed them by this fall let me know and I'll bring my wire bender. It's not too tough to fix.

Check out:

You want option "D".

Don't get madd at me if you get hooked on making stuff in your basement if you get one.

Check out Hagen's professional wire former. I have not missed my Boggs wire bender since I went with the upgrade. It is twice as expensive but worth every penny! I do make and sell a few lures so it was an easy investment on my end.
