Seems those two could be a female and a male. Males can get up to 45 inches and that could be about the size of the two fish. It could just be an older male with a middle-age female. Not that unusual in the human species of course, except the older male human usually needs lots of money to attract a younger female. Or at least must be a good cook and house cleaner.

How big are those rocks in the background?

Since that is Mille Lacs, and those are MN Muskies, I am guessing they are the size of a VW Bug, and those fish are somewhere in the neighborhood of 32 feet long...

Male muskies can get bigger than you may think. There's a Minnesota lake that has had muskies for less than 20 years. The DNR netted a male musky out there this spring that was just a hair under 48". This is probably pretty close to as big as you'll see. But they can get big too!

FYI: For what it's worth, I know of a 52 inch male caught up on the French River.

A 52 inch male Muskie? Wow! That is huge for a male. Makes one wonder how big the females are in that river.
