Location: Madison, WI | Unfortunately with PD’s the slack line is a necessary evil. No way around it as the shaft has to slide up and down. Not a problem with Maxxum. The deployment allows one to secure the cord with zip ties from the transducer all the way up the shaft (I think I use 3). One more zip tie with an eye on the trolling motor base keeps everything conveniently out of the way. |

Location: Downers Grove, IL | Gotcha....I guess I'm so used to the PD's that I forgot all about how the Maxxums deploy.
So what is the major difference between the Maxxum Pro and the Maxxum besides price?

The maxxum Pro is spring loaded and is a lift assist that cuts back on lifting the motor. It really makes a difference if you were using the old maxxum without the lift assist. The Pro really cuts back tremedously on how much effort you have to put into deployment and then into stowing the motor. I would highly suggest the pro if you can swing, well worth the money. And as for the universal sonar, I guess its all in who you talk to about that. I have had mine for now going on the fourth season and is working great. I ABSOLUTELY love the universal sonar, no having to worry about pinching sonar cables or cutting cables. Transducers arent cheap, but either are the trolling motor with the universal sonar, it's all in personal preference. I would suggest to see if you can try the regular maxxum and the pro and see if the extra money is worth it. Just my .02. |
