I have seen several baits on ebay that have just the heads painted chrome . I'm pretty sure thats a St. Clair thing but why do they do it ? Or has anyone used that with any luck ?

What you are talking about is the older Chrome headed baits that are no longer make. These were make by BELIEVER , These bait do work great on Lake St. Clair. I have yet to try them anywhere else but have had good luck with them on LSC.
