Finally got out for the first time this year and caught my first one. Not big but broke the ice. had two more hit and my buddy got a gar. Seen two big ones cruising and they looked beat up from the spawn. I love my new rubberhairy squirley gill glide!

No fishing this weekend, but went over to the Oconomowoc river and watched muskies for about an hour. Biggest had to be over 45 easily!! The wife was freaking out. If you live in the area it's definately worth a stop.

Got out on the Fox Chain on Friday. Muskies are in spawning mode apparently... so as the expression goes, we got treated like red-headed step children. No offense to any red-headed step children out there.... but the fish slapped us around. Only one fish spotted in 7.5 hrs!

However, the weather was decent, and the carp seemed to be having fun jumping around our boat... so at least we were amused!

Thanks, Dude!

Yep, it's an 1800C, 1994. Very good observation from that small pic. Here's the lowdown.

Deviant behaviour.

3 Stripers 25-30 inches bank casting at night Saturday, losing one more of similar size.

Not as deviant as somebody like Worrall, I mean it wasn't like I was fishing with corn, but, deviant just the same.

I BEG your pardon, I was using Berkely Powerbait and would NEVER use corn for trout( it just isn't DONE in the circles I met on the White River), and was FORCED into that by a deviant 40 HP fuel pump. otherwise, it would have been Stripers and Wipers, White Bass and Bass, Crappies and Bream, and that's al I have to say about that.

Yeah, sure, we all saw the kind of people you were hanging out with, the kind that hold up those big golden fish for pictures.

That guy was at the dock when I was cleaning my catch and asked me for some white bass spawn, on which he immediately popped two of those fertilizer bombs. The crowd at the White River was wearing fly fishing vests, fancy hats, and waders all color coordinated and perfectly matched to their fly rods and tiny, very expensive flies tied on with surgeon knots. They looked at me wading fishing a spinning rod and wearing my tennis shoes and levis with undusguised disdain. I just continued to catch lots of rainbows and Cutthroats.

Steve, you're not alone, I also reduced myself to trout fishing this weekend. After chasing muskies to no avail on friday, and seeing the fish spawning, I opted to take the girlfriend trout fishing for the weekend. She did catch 22 and 17 inch rainbows, which was exciting for her. I napped most of the day.

SB,

That's crazy. We have the exact same rig in the exact some color. The only difference is its a 1995 and has a 150 Vmax Yammy. I like how you've got it set up!

Cool Dude!

Post some pics if you have a chance.

I store the rods with the tips tucked beside the console under the gunnel and a big Velcro strap around the foregrips. Ordering some clips to go under the port gunnel to hold the Frabill lure retriever.

Good luck this season...

Overall good weekend 4/15,16 w/ only one--38--on Sat w/ zero follows on Barbee in the bright sun but great day on Webster in the torrential winds Sun w/ a 39, 42, 45, & 50esque ski boated (spawning female measuring 49 nose to tail left in the water w/o a tail squeeze). Feel guilty calling this a 50 w/o pulling her out and doing the squeeze but we do generally pull another inch or so off by the squeeze, right (Would appreciate others opinions on that)? Anyway the first two were stocky males and the second two chunky pre spawn females that were handled w/ extra TLC. Never saw a fish Sun other than those caught. Missed two more as well off the boat on suckers. Suckers were the ticket. The waters were very turbid and all fish were shallow and downwind which made for an o/w tough fishing in the 20-30 mi/hr winds which were gusting much of the time! Thank God for my autopilot troller! Many fish were seen very shallow (off the main lake) still paired up for the spawn.....

If you can pinch the tail I think it should count. Its different than standing on your tip-toes when being measured!!!!! But it would be hard being that the fish was in the water. You can have anywhere from a 2 inch difference with the waves and stuff like that. What does everyone else think?
