It is with great pain & displeasure that I must report this story. I spoke at length with IDNR officer Rich Reidel this morning who informed me that poachers on the Chain are destroying our spawing walleye & musky brood stock. Yes these _ _ _ holes are pulling up the fyke nets on the Fox Chain, stealing all the fish found inside these nets and leaving the empty nets on the shorelines!!! Hundreds of numerous walleyes between 25"-30" have been stolen along with many large muskies running to 50"!!!
I ask for your help IMMEDIATELY.
Officer Reidel needs to raise $2,500.00 for the purchase of Generation 3 night vision goggles to catch these SOB's! The money needs to be raised ASAP as the raping and pillaging of these fyke nets continues.
Officer Reidel will be attending our club meeting next Wednesday, April 12th to discuss this issue before we start our club business portion of the meeting. Bring your all your friends and bring your wallets, as we need everyone to dig deep into their pockets to raise some money to stop this travesty.
THIS ISSUE EFFECTS EVERYONE WHO FISHES THE CHAIN!!! THESE GUYS ARE RUINING OUR FISHERY!!!

Location: The desert | Why dont they set up volunteers like WI does with the sturgeon watch? Set guys up near the banks of the nets and make sure no one messes with them. I hope you guys can catch them because that is really low.

Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | Pointer's suggestion sounds like a much more cost effective method. And I can't imagine it would be that difficult to get volunteers for something like that. Either way, hopefully this problem can be ended asap.

Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | Volunteers could phone law enforcement if anyone suspicious was seen in the area. Clearly though, taking the law into their own hands would be a bad idea.
The more I think about this, why are night vision goggles needed? How are these nets laid out? Are they covering a huge area? I'm wondering why a person could not simply man the area unseen, yet still close enough to observe if anyone is in the area. Once your own night vision sets in, you can see pretty well in the dark. And being dark out, I can't imagine it would be that difficult to stay hidden. Just some thoughts.

| It would be hard for volunteers not to beat them down. If I was volunteering things might get ugly!!!!

Location: chicago | How about notifying all the Muskie Inc. chapters that use the Chain ,on the forums. I'm sure we could come up with manpower or money to try to stop this problem. This is a very serious issue that will effect alot of us. |

Location: The desert | Fyke nets are not super large. They are a series of hoops attached to a lead which is attatched to the shore which guides the fish down into the hoops where they are trapped. They could easily be watched from a lawn chair.

You are right, these guys wouldn't end up in jail over something like this. Probably just a small fine. It is frustrating though to see that stuff like this is going on on our lakes. |

| Why not set up some of those motion sensitive cameras that hunters use? Get a crew together to patrol with ski masks to conceal identity, catch them in the act and get medieval. |
