Many years ago I sent a Abu down there and when it came back the button would not pop out. So, I took it apart and placed the spring in it proper place. Then when I tried it again, it sounded like sand was inside. so I sent it back. In return (I did not know it at the time) I was given a new reel. I only realized it was a new reel when it came time to respool line. I took off the old line and found a knot holding the line to the arbor. See back then I would splice the dracron (I told you it was many years ago) line to the arbor.

Tthis might not have any bearing on what they do today.

dward, take the reel back to the gurnee store tell them its not working right and you want a replacement... spool your line off before you bring it in.
