And to those that love to gripe about the cost of a fishing license...just try to get on a golf course as many times as you want by buying one license a year...

Been golfing since I was 5... Great game! It's the only way that i can get a good solid 5 hours of father/son time with the pops. Still not a very good golfer though But if I had my choice i'd much rather spend the 5 hours on the water...

I used to play alot more golf, but with it being 5+ hours to play 18 I would rather invest that time commuting to a lake to fish. I still enjoy the work golf outings though, even though they take forever. I played Eagle Creek in Indy on my way home from my sisters wedding in OH in just under 3 hours... now that was IDEAL.

Heres my golf story.I had a long time fishing client who retired to Las Vegas. He was wealthy and invited me out one winter to play a round at the Las vegas country club.I think a round went for around $300 at the time.It was 101 degrees when we teed off.At the ninth hole he asked if I needed to use the rest room.I said are you kidding I'm so dehydrated I may never pee again. When we finished the round( I shot a 137)he said isnt this the most beautiful golf course youv'e ever seen?I said John to be honest with you I can play in the U.P. Of michigan on the shores of Lake Superior with some of the most beautiful vistas in the world and pay 12 bucks for 18 cart included see eagles and deer all day and pay a $1.75 for a double jack &water at the 19th hole plus I wont have to have someone start an IV in my arm right after I putt out for a 9on the 18th.

Here's something I know about. Chuck is absolutely right. I've been a serious golfer for 30+ years. Most everyone would cringe if they knew how much money I have in my golf bag. A dozen Pro V1 golf balls is $46 and they do get lost. Golf balls can make musky baits look reasonably priced. With all the crap I bought to start fishing, it still seems reasonable to me. I bought three Records and three Diamondbacks for less than I have in my woods. And they will stay useable for much longer. Technology changes every other year in golf and new drivers can be $500+. A half day with Mr. Extreme is about the same as a round at a decent course plus beverages, food, etc. And the time with Mike includes learning something. Dropped a reasonable membership this year and it's easily paying for all the equipment for fishing. What I spend on drinks at the club is paying for an AML trip. Also gave up bowling which is saving me a ton.

The one thing I don't have for fishing and that Chuck forgot to mention is a boat. You do not need a $15,000 to $40,000 boat to golf. That's the thing I have to wrap my mind around. If you have a boat and only fish once or twice a week, each trip is pretty pricey.

I will always love the game of golf, and I'm fairly good at it. I'll play some this year but it won't be my focus. My 8 year daughter loves to play (and that's a college scholarship waiting to happen), so most of my golf time will be on the range with her, or on a pitch and putt in Muskego that costs $8.

Kevin

Golf will never be completely out of the plan.

Cow Pasture Pool!

The game you hate to love, or love to hate. Your choice. I play about 6 times a year, always with vendors and customers. It's been about 10 years since I golfed on a weekend and it was not associated with work.

I used to be pretty good, back in the 80's, when I played 4-6 times a week. That was before I bought a boat and started fishing. But I kept the clubs, and I still go. I am thinking of getting a new set. I think I wore mine out a few years ago. I don't seem to get those 300 yard drives as often as I used to.

Four!!

most expensive thing about golf for me is all the beer i need to make it fun...

own clubs, but only use them when we golf for bach parties, college buddy get togethers, etc...only a couple times a year at the most...plenty of beer there

Was on the golf team in high school, was team mvp every year. Game is too frustrating for me. Havent golfed in a long time and dont plan on it anytime soon! But I would agree with Backlash, musky fishing is way more expensive.

I used to play 150 times a yr. before I accidently caught a musky. I loved the game, that was 7 yrs. ago. My best round I shot 1 under par 71 and averaged 78-77.

Last yr. I didn't even golf one time. This fish now consumes ALL of my spare time, except for my family,no fish is worth losing you'r family over. Priorites boy's priorites.

I figured that I spent about $3,000 a yr. just to play golf, not including the eq.

Now I have a $30,000 boat, electronics, rods, reels,150 baits and fish the PMTT and other tournys. So golf is alot less time consuming and alot less costly than chasing musky's

Folks you have to keep in mind that the Scottish invented golf and called it fun.

You must also realize that the Scottish invented bagpipes and called it music.

Played since i was 12, whenever that was. High school golf yeam, then joined a club fore a few years. But I got bored with it when i played four times a week. I was ok, had a handicap in the single digits for awhile. Best round was a 68. I have always fished but this muskie hing started about five years ago. Just got a boat. spent 5K on that. I really don't miss golf at all. Love to watch the majors on tv, but that's only fore times per year. Right now fishing is costing more, but I saw this driving net a Sam's Club for $40 just the other day.....remember, golf spelled backwards is F L O G.
