What is the best way to cut and bend heavy gauge wire, like to make a globe with. If all you need is a looping pliers who has a good one? Then a good cutting tool?

Tim Thanks!

I suggest the Knipex cutters, they cut easy and hold up well. As for pliers I took a good pair of needle nose pliers and with a grinder I rounded the ends to the size I wanted and went to town. These pliers seem to work better than any production pliers I have gotten. Good Luck...Doug

knipex makes a great roundnose pliers. the boggs tool rocks too, but heavy wire will wear it out fast.

SJ broke one making our tails already

I use a set of Craftsman looping pliers and a pair of vice grips to bend stainless steel spokes.

Put a nail the size of the loop you want in a vise, then use vise grips to wrap the wire, alot easier than holding pliers, and trying to bend the wire @ the same time. Knipex is by far the bset bolt cutter available.

To get a clean, flush cut on a wire wrap, I twist the tag end off with a vice-grip pliers. The wire "snaps" clean and flush with wrap... leaving no burr to snag weeds or poke your finger.

Yes, Jlong taught me that trick a while back, and I neglected to mention it. Great advice for sure.
