I just got word that there's a developer that's trying to slide a 226 slip boat dock on Lake Waconia right next to the boat landing on the East side. This dock would be 500' long by 225' deep. There is not much natural reproduction going on in this lake, but an increase of 226 boats on a 3000 acre lake is not a good thing.

If you're in the area and want to speak out against this, there's a meeting tonight at the Waconia City Hall at 7:15. I woun't be able to attend tonight, but I've sent an email to one person who is leading the charge against this project. The planning director in charge of this project is John Hilgers 952-442-3106.

I agree 100%. That lake has so many boats out there the way it is, add another 226 on a slip and it could get real dangerous!

There are already too many issues with boaters out there!

That is absolutely insane!!!
That lake is a nightmare now on the weekends. I cant imagine what is going to happen to it with that many more boats on it. With far to many weekend bass tourneys combined with the already kajillion boats on the lake, its gonna be ugly. They would be nuts to pass a resolution like that. Wish i would have been up on the news sooner i would have gone to the meeting and probably come unglued

Totally silly. You won't even need a boat to fish that lake on the weekends. Just show up with you rod and a hand full of lures and walk from boat to boat casting as you go.

That's alot of slips and represents BIG $$$$. I hope they don't approve but my guess is they will scale it back and approve sometning smaller. Is this a decent lake to fish? Sounds like the weekends are like most of the metro lakes, very busy.

The people at the meeting were strongly opposed to this addtion to the lake. Most of the concerns dealt with too many boats for the lake and parking issues however they did mention spawning as a concern as well. (There were lots of other concerns too)

My guess is that the developer is going to come back with a new plan that will "downsize" the plan. Hopefully this will not happen at all. For anyone who knows Lake Waconia, it is already far too packed with boats the way it is.
